I have to envy you Americans your politicians - they at least speak their (insane) minds so you know what they think. Our lot keep most of their fruit-loop ideas to themselves until it too late for us to do anything about them.

I jeered, but not at first, it took me a couple of days. My first reaction was that it was just crass and unfunny. I didn't jeer it then because I didn't believe its intention was meant to be racist - actually I thought it was meant to be the opposite; a poke at those people who actually DO have those kind of thoughts. But in the end I jeered it because, despite my intellectualising of it, I still dislike the image at a gut level and wished I hadn't seen it.

It must be possible for creationists to be funny about evolution without exposing themselves as either idiots or propagandists. It's just that I've never seen any. Maybe we should set a challenge.

Looks like we need a new thread on this. I'm only a bourbon drinker (and Maker's Mark is the preferred tipple) when I visit an old Texan mate now living in Colarado. I take him cask strenth Lafroaigh scotch, he feeds me MM. It's the best example of the 'special relationship' that we have. Cask stregnth is how it comes out of the still - about 65% and really needs water to make it drinkable. The normal retail is 40%. Maker's Mark must be of the same order from the still - if it was 95% it would have been produced by a different method and lost all its flavour and simply be ethanol. (ie vodka)
