Re: Immaculate preconception
you'll see that their definition of "informed consent" to an abortion involves a doctor telling the pregnant woman this "gestational age"
Is there anything preventing the doctor from informing the woman that "gestation age" is state invented nonsense? (Provided that some legal time-limit no-no isn't exceeded).

Re: A little humor...
we told you... HAWAII
This is exactly the stereotype that many people have of righties; that they tell each other birther jokes. I image that in a room full of lefties and righties this joke would produce lots of guffaws, but half the people would be laughing at the other half of the room.
I suppose I am also proving the point that Libs don't laugh when it is their ox that is the butt of xenophobic, race-baiting jokes. So be it.

Thanks, but we already know that this former presidential candidate is a couple sandwiches short of a picnic. We no longer bother to apologize for the things he says.
Pat on Hugo Chavez:

I don't know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it.
Pat on Protestants:

You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist.
Pat on 9/11
quote:
We have insulted God" with legal abortion and resrictions on religion in public places. "Then we say 'why does this happen?' Well, why it's happening is that God Almighty is lifting his protection from us
Pat on wayward wives:
In response to a question from a viewer named Michael about how to repair his marriage to a woman who "has no respect for me as the head of the house."
quote:
Well, you could become a Muslim and you could beat her.
and later on the same situation.
quote:
I don’t think we condone wife-beating these days but something has got to be done to make her.
Finding Robertson saying something ape-bonkers is no challenge at all. The challenge is explaining why anyone listens to this fool for spiritual guidance.

Re: Apparently, i got Some Splaining To Do
I did not expect the kind of reaction this had. The joke is the shock value, induced by the racism
The problem this kind of 'funny' has to overcome is a long history of jokes and non-jokes implying that black people are lower on the evolutionary ladder than everyone else.
I did a peek through your posting history and concluded that it wasn't the least bit likely that you intended anything harmful. But it's not like racists, anti-semites, and homophobes never wander through here spewing. Kinda rare though.
I still don't find the picture funny. I also don't find the idea that some people would find it funny all that humorous either. My opinion is that the posting makes the place look a little unwelcoming.

Do you think they want to be treated like theyre doing nothing out of the ordinary?
Do you think they mind not being laughed at? I didn't find the video the least bit funny.

Re: Re:Makers Mark to be watered down?
A cynic might note that the overall effect seems like great publicity. Instead of complaining about shortages, people are going to celebrate the rarity of this brand.

Re: Makers Mark makers make backtracks
Indeed - what a great marketing strategy! Similar to Classic Coke.
Interesting comparison. How much of the diluted bourbon actually got bottled and shipped?

Re: Re:Makers Mark to be watered down?
My own suggestion is that they increase price until supply becomes sufficient.
Oh, they'll likely be doing that...
But I think their misstep will only make their supply problem worse. I've never had Maker's Mark before but will definitely order it next time out, and I assume I'm not alone. What drink should I order?
It seems that the advertising campaign is working. You are going to order this supposed undiluted bouron the next time out, regardless of price! And then you are likely going to add water to it to boot!
And I'll bet those 'limited edition' bottles of water bourbon are just flying off the shelves.
...on the rocks
I'm told that fine diners never say "on the rocks, but instead say "over ice". Not that you deep imbibers need to pretend to be connoisseurs.
