Re: Two Cautionary Tales of Gun Control
One little item that the wjs did not report is that crime stats using 'imitation guns' and bb guns are included in that. Care to break those out?

Hum. We can regulate guns by carrying guns openly, and then have those carriers be victims of murder suicide. MSN | Outlook, Office, Skype, Bing, Breaking News, and Latest Videos

Re: Regulation Proposal #1 owner licenses
These days that's almost as bad as calling someone a republican. Which brings up the old anti-communist mantra.. Better dead than red.

Re: Regulation Proposal #1 owner licenses
Tell me.. how many times a day do you see an automobile being used? How many times do you see a gun being used? What is the percentage of deaths verses times use? Oh.. yes.. and to operate a vehicle on the road, you have to get licensed, take a test, and get insurance. .. and have the license renewed every 4 years. Hum. Sounds like a good idea.

Re: It may already be impossible to regulate guns...
Yet, it is feasible to take make clips in plastic, to get around the '9 bullet max' in a magazine .

Re: Back on Track
I am not sure that is true. I am not a fan of 'self policing' when it comes to public safety. It just doesn't work. Now, I could get behind a compromise.. where there is 'self policing', but also auditing going on, with fines for non-compliance. ... big fines too.. There has to be a signifigent motivation to keep to being honest in 'shows'.

Re: NY Vs Chicago
The regulations in New York have had a positive effect on gun crime in New York.
Evidence?

Re: NY Vs Chicago
Yes, they can. However, .. well.. the poitn of the matter is.. these AREN'T misleading. The gun laws, and their enforcement in New York City has drastically reduced crime. The numbers of murders in specifically have dropped drastically since 1990. I gave the raw numbers. You can deny the data, or you can accept it. If you want to deny it, no one can make you accept the data, but if you can't accept the facts, that seems to be like shoving your fingers in your ears and yelling 'I can't HEAR YOU'. Re: Regulation Proposal #1 owner licenses
If cars are so good for killing people, why do you need a Gun for self defense? You already have a car.

Let's look at some facts, rather than a propaganda film. From Gun Control in Australia - FactCheck.org
Have murders increased since the gun law change, as claimed? Actually, Australian crime statistics show a marked decrease in homicides since the gun law change. According to the Australian Institute of Criminology, a government agency, the number of homicides in Australia did increase slightly in 1997 and peaked in 1999, but has since declined to the lowest number on record in 2007, the most recent year for which official figures are available.
So, I guess that propaganda flick had misinformation in it.
