There's lots of evidence for some groups of people with gigantism, over 8-9' tall. It is mere prejudice that dismisses it. In fact, tools have been found that would only fit people of such size, and there is no scientific reason for humans not to breed larger and smaller. Just as we have found evidence of smaller-sized humans, we see evidence of larger sized ones. Imo, evos reject science here because they don't like the idea of any evidence supporting the biblical record.

Moreover, it would not take 50 thousand men that long to walk by and look in a box.

Nuggins, can you please substantiate that the Dead Sea scrolls uniformly state Goliath was of less stature than the Masoretic text?

Although there are inerrantists that think the KJV and the received text is so divinely protected by God that it contains no errors of any kinds, the standard inerrantist position in places like the SBC are that the original monographs are inerrant, but that translations and copyists could err.

There are a number of different ways to do this. You ought to check into what they are and see for yourself.

There are many denomination which operate through instilling fear in the believer. It is to their advantage to do so. Financial, mostly. I see the same thing with evos. There is great fear of evolution being overturned, imo, and there is a strong financial interest in evos maintaining and defending their belief system.

The problem is that this argument is held to be ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE by YECs. Since God himself guided every single translation (even contradictory ones) they are all 100% correct and absolute truth. totally wrong...and a ridiculous straw man argument not even close to the truth

No nuggins, the grasshopper language is clearly figurative. The spies with less courage said they felt like grasshoppers in comparison.

That was part of the OP and his 80% comment made me think that perhaps he has bad information on the Dead Sea scrolls incredible coorelation to the Masorestic text, basically leaving him with a false impression rather than a true one.
So I wanted him to substantiate that. As far as science, I would think like other species, we would expect some dimunitive and giant forms without contradicting science or the Bible at all. It seems to me it would only be a problem for people that want to try to discredit the Bible.

Nuggins, the tools that have been found match people over 9' tall. I have not responded because I didn't see much to respond to. I think I proved my point, and you have no response to it. So game over.

nuggins, you have a link or anything for your claim? Where did you hear the Dead Sea scrolls said this?
So far, I see no substantiation whatsoever.

Nuggins, why not make an effort first to substantiate your comment here that was part of the OP? I am not asking something unreasonable.
The "I'm pretty sure" comment makes me wonder if you just did not mix up the DS scrolls with something else and made a mistake. This message has been edited by randman, 01-01-2006 05:59 PM

Since God himself guided every single translation (even contradictory ones) they are all 100% correct and absolute truth. That's your claim nuggins, not merely that YECers accept the Flood. Back it up, or admit you made a mistake. Faith here is a YECer, and she does not believe that inerrantism means you cannot have translation errors. basically, you are misrepresenting YECers, and I called you on it.

Want me to substantiate what? I want you to substantiate what the Dead Sea scrolls say, especially your 80% comment. But I see where you said you saw this on the History channel. OK then. But at the same time, since it is your OP, you might want to check and see if that information is accurate. Your idea that the Dead Sea scrolls does not match our current Bible is highly inaccurate, btw.
