Ezekiels Wheel is only one of several stories regarding unexplainable occurrences as told in the bible. One possible explanation is that people of the times had a smaller vocabulary when compared to people of today. They had fewer words to describe things thereby gaining new and differenet explanations as time passed.
When I was in college, I remember taking a US History course in which one of the texts gave an example of how an early explorer who had never seen one before might describe a baseball game. It was quite funny. It's easy to forget that someone from a culture or technological era different from our own would describe his or her world as well as ours in very different words from the ones we're used to using today.
Never overestimate the intelligence of someone who thinks you're wrong.
