The meeting begins and I get to ask the first question. I approach Loki. where are the references that show your credentials, oh trickster? Loki Laughs at me. "Silly human", he says. "Look all about you." "Why do you think there is no padding on shins and elbows, the two parts of the body most likely to get hit? Those were two of my favorite pranks." "Who do you think put the slime in okra?" "Then there is the universe. I created these humans that think they are so special, then stuck them in a little corner and made the whole rest of the place so hostile they may never be able to live anywhere else. And just to make the joke even funnier, I set it up so they could SEE all the places they can't go. I still end up spitting beer all over myself when I think of that one." Aslan is not a Tame Lion

If GOD exists, She exists regardless of any evidence She does not exist.
If GOD doesn't exist, It doesn't exist regardless of evidence It does exist. Edited by jar, : No reason given. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Phat writes: This gives Lady Wisdom an opportunity. Call her up on the stand next. Can't do that without far more information. You specified "Lady Wisdom" so that means a female but there are still far to many Gods of Wisdom including Brigid, Athena, Neith, Seshat, Saraswati, Pheobe... It does preclude any of the variations of the Judaic Gods.
Phat writes: So where does this leave Jesus? As a character believed to be a God by some sects. It leaves Jesus wherever individual humans place Jesus. AbE
Phat writes: Corrolary:GOD either exists or does not exist. Humans do not create such a GOD, by definition. IF GOD exists, GOD is likely not anthropomorphized. But there is another corollary from what you posted; that GOD if GOD exists is unlikely be to like anything imagined by man. Edited by jar, : see AbE

Phat writes: If our human imaginations are so limited, why was the god in Genesis 11 so afraid of our collective imagination? Ask any realtor. Once one of THEM moves in property values go straight to hell. Last thing God needed was humans moving into the neighborhood. But seriously, there is a pattern here that is seen from Genesis 1 right on through almost all the stories and that is the God character in the story is simply a plot device. The God in Genesis 11 is just a character the author(s) created, a plot device. Like Genesis 2&3 Gen 11 is another Just So story; the tale of why everyone does not speak the same language.

Faith writes: I never used the word "perfectly" but I found believers all agreeing on the basics based on the Bible which we all accept as God's own personal communication to us. Now Faith, you know that is just another of your Porkies. What you mean is that believers in your cult all agree on some basics except when they do not agree which is why there are so many different chapters of your cult.

So you agree that what you mean is that those who believe what you believe believe what you believe except when they do not believe what you believe.
Yes Faith, we believe you believe that.

Faith writes: Just as I said to dwise it's remarkable how you can accuse me of being caught in a loop of unverifiable suppositions and forget that it must mean that you are too, and with that the possibility of any knowledge at all goes down the drain and I certainly don't have to take anything you say seriously. Too funny Faith; yet another of your sill porkies. Yes Virginia, there are things that can be verified by comparing them to reality yet the basics of your cult starts off by a statement that you must consider a fantasy as the ultimate base for your beliefs. Your whole worldview is based on what you claim we are using and the evidence for your fantasy world begins with the Chicago Statement on Biblical Fantasy.

Phat writes: What statement are you referring to? The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy. It begins by stating it is based on the fact that the unknown is true and so what is known must be true. Say what? But even then it couches it's assertions in more weasel words and word salad to make any actual meaning impossible to find. Just yet more dishonesty from the apologetics.

The Genesis 11 Just So story creates a God character that confounds humans so they speak different languages and are unable to communicate. Google on the other hand tends to remove language as a barrier to communications.
If Genesis 11 was rewritten today it would show a God who creates ways for people to communicate regardless of their native language.

Phat writes: You are describing a God character that wants us to be as one...with or without Him. The whole idea is for the people and God to be in communion as one...not for the people themselves to become one without God. You created the Tower of Google allusion; I am simply reporting reality and the fact that your caricature misrepresents any reality of the effects of a Tower of Google. You are the one who seems to have the need for there to be some communion with some God although as always, you do not explain how that would be possible or how that has any relationship to reality.

Tangle writes: Sure, but I've never heard of Christians sending their kids to synagogs or Jews to Muslim churches. Well, now you have. In addition many chapters of club Christian actually encourage members to explore other faiths and in the US National Cathedral both Jewish and Islamic as well as other faiths have performed services and present their religious perspectives. You are free to assume most anything you want. But you are not free to pull the same carny con tricks as the Christian Cult of Ignorance or to misrepresent what I post.

But you are making the same error Tangle is.
Yes, a local culture determines to a great degree what position members of that culture adopt. BUT the fact is that today many religions are not exclusive and do not hold the position that any one religion is the only true religion. This has been true of many religions for near forever and is gradually becoming more prominent in Christianity. Hinduism, Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism have always recognized other religions as valid; as different paths. Islam traditionally recognized that Jews, Christians and Muslims worshiped the same God based on the "Book". Many chapters of Club Christian today agree that the Abrahamic religions all worship the same God. And there are families that do encourage their children to explore other faiths; mine being but one example. Finally, with a few exceptions religions do have a process to accept new members or conversions.
