I think you've misunderstood Phat.
Reading your post and Asgara I see what Phat likely meant in his post:
quote:
All {snip} evil is the absense of God
This however does immediately beg the question of what
isn't evil? Sure D&D has magic, demons, dieties, and a group of poor saps trying not to get eaten by a red dragon; but its all imagination. Novels, tv shows, video games, music, etc all have the same idea - creating a world of fiction for entertainment purposes.
The christians think its evil because they don't understand it and it contains magic and demons n'stuff.
That is such a bizarre stance to take on issues. I suppose its easy as long as one doesn't actually think about the contradictions they make in their lives.
The results were probably: "Wow, my son is a huge dork."
Exactly! Being a dork is not evil.
I think what Phat was saying is that if evil is defined as the absence of god
Then there is no hope for someone who thinks like that. Life is full of explorations that do not revolve around God, church, or Bible readings. Rejecting D&D out of hand is closed minded, thinking about the position and following it to its logical end is to reject nearly everything the world has to offer!
