Protest are good, when the media decides to give you a little air time. In order to make the 1% take notice you have to hurt them....where it counts, their pocket books. Our government officials know who gets them their campaign money...the 1%. That is where most our problems are at in many ways, the common man has no chance of getting elected without financial backing, and lots of it. I hope as time goes on that this protest will gain momentum and media interest, but saying "we have had enough" without no way to back it up seems futile. "No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...and if it occasionally gets a little heavier than what you had in mind, well...maybe chalk it off to forced conscious expansion: Tune in, freak out, get beaten." Right on, I just said something similar. Campaign finance reform is a crucial necessary first step. "No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. I also feel that the success of the protest in the middle east had a lot to do with innocent people getting killed by an unjust government, makes for good media. There, IMO, just are not enough people suffering in the USA yet...it is coming as you have said. When we no longer have SS, welfare, food-stamps...ect then there will be enough people to make a difference....it won't be peaceful I suspect. "No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Armed conflict may be the only thing that would get our governments attention....(FnL and Xong are added to the do not fly list, potential domestic terrorist) "No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. That Will Fix Them
Fox News legal analyst Peter Johnson Jr. writes: Clearly, I would think these folks are deluded in a lot of ways and probably provide the best argument for national service for 18-year-olds that we have ever seen." http://mediamatters.org/.../201110030017#.TooEQ6v3I90.reddit What a brilliant idea, we will take all the young people and make them serve in the military where they will learn that the 1% aren't bad. Hell many of the 1% directly support them by selling our government weapons systems, guns, ammo....ect, without these advanced systems they would be no better off than the people we are fighting. As an added benefit them pesky free-thinking young people might get some religion, yes yes, as they travel the mountain roads of Afghanistan they might start praying to god there won't be another IED or RPG attack. Sorry for the rant, but that particular comment got under my skin. Lets take the people who don't like the 1% and make them fight for the 1%. "No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...and if it occasionally gets a little heavier than what you had in mind, well...maybe chalk it off to forced conscious expansion: Tune in, freak out, get beaten." Re: That Will Fix Them
Finland, Norway, and Switzerland don't project power like we do either, they are primarily self defense forces I think. I am not against service in any way, I just feel it should be voluntary if you are going to serve in a combat role. I am not a fan of forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to do. There are a lot of benefits of serving, health care, college money, loans....ect. "No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Re: Voluntary Public Works Programs
Zen Deist writes: The BIG question though is: does national service HAVE to be military? I think a peace corps type of service would be great, just do it within our own country. Probably lot could be said about this, but I won't run this thread off-topic any more than I already have. "No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind.
