Thoughts on the topic in question
I've never played Dungeons and Dragons, but I've seen it being played on PC and I've read rants and raves about it being evil.
Maybe it is sort of a sin to roleplay using 'black magick' and all that stuff considering it is real(though not magical at all) but it's JUST YOUR IMAGINATION. As long as you don't get so into it that you believe it's really happening or want to REALLY get into magick then I think you'll be okay. And even if the black mage thing would bother somebody, who says you can't play as some sort of Holy Warrior that believes in the Christian diety?
Now, as some people might know I enjoy bashing role-playing games just because I can make jokes about them... but they're NOT evil unless it's a game where you play as an allegorical 'Satan' or 'demon'
with the objective to destroy an allegorical 'heaven'. But as far as I know even if you play as an 'evil character in most role-players you're battling a source of evil. A few rays of hope (only 2 or 3 individuals) fighting through hordes of evil and triumphing in the end sounds good to me.
Anybody else have thoughts on this?
EDITED IN:Lord of the Rings has wizards like Gandalf and is fantasy in every aspect. Yet it's NOT some allegory of Christianity and everyone considers it so Christian appropriate because good triumphs over evil. So why is Dungeons and Dragons any different?

"Holy crap!! This thread is just more proof that scientists really are geeks."
Yeah, I'm starting to think that myself. I don't understand half the stuff you guys are talking about, could you please stick to the discussion over whether it's satanic or not? Because satanic or not if they put me in hell they'd hand me an instructions booklet to one of those games and watch me try in vain to understand all this SWORD OF FLAMING CRAP+2 stuff.
Please remember not all of us on this thread have charted the labrynth, defeated the minotaur, found the Cookie of Sages and dunked it into the Milk of Doom.

Frodo is not my Jesus!
Hmm, it's got to be Frodo, right? He's the one who sacrifices everything to save the rest of the world.
Why did this Jesus wannabe have to be such a wussbag?!I contest that John Madden could take him in a slap fight.

Re: Frodo is not my Jesus!
All he had to do was hang out with prostitutes and lepers, deal with a couple of Pharisees and then some measely crucifixion
You're forgetting when he opened a can of amazing grace on a bunch of people defiling a synogouge with prostitution etc. Taking on a whole group of bad boys with just a whip is pretty awesome, and with the thought in mind that he COULD have killed all of the people that took him to the cross single-handedly, it shows how strong his spirit was when he didn't.

Are most of the bankers you know 'bad boys'?
I know one hardass at a local bank that tells off everyone who asks him something.
Also, let's consider numbers and the fact that bankers had customers, and customers can be pretty rough. I doubt every last one of them was unarmed.
TTFN,
WK
Uh, greetings to you too. What does this mean?
