I agree that the world is ugly and miserable, Chris, but you don't have to make it worse by writing bad poems.
The way to cure yourself of the poetry-writing habit is to begin a regimen in which, whenever you are in a poetic mood, you have to write sonnets in rhymed iambic pentameter (ababcdcdefefgg). That's so difficult to do that pretty soon you'll give it up and go back to plain prose.

Chris
Chris, I like your idea about "retribution." I've often thought something similar. One spends one's whole life learning how to live. It seems a shame one couldn't have a second life in which to apply the lesson.
I know you're unhappy, so I wrote this little ditty to cheer you up about people dying.
Passing by a Graveyard on a Drunken Evening
I love the dead, their spirit of repose,
Their tiny houses sectioned into clans.
Here the Murphy's, there the Thibodeaux's,
Eternal neighbors to those they couldn't stand.

Poetry
"you don't like poems?"
That depends on the poem. I'm not into Whitmanesque ramblings.

Chris
It would have been nice if we didn't have all this rigmarole and God had fixed it up from the beginning. Surely that is not impossible for the Almighty, who can do all things.
But I guess it was far too risky from a security point of view.

Re: Chris
Yeah it's always good to have a little drama.

Re: Chris
Well, it is rather dramatic the things that get done here on Earth. You know, like mass murder and babies being born deformed and the like.
So it's probably pretty amusing to the Man upstairs. But that's ok, because when they get to heaven they will lose their inability to control their bowels and such.
And be happy.

Re: Chris
Isn't it obvious that there is no reason?
