Hey Chris
Very glad you realize there is room for improvement in this world. That's a good first step.
Remember the admonishion of St. Paul to "Fight the Good Fight."
It doesn't say Fight or Fight Good, or Fight the Fight, but "Fight the Good Fight".
There's not much you can do about Rwanda, Russia or Germany. So look around and see where yoou might be able to actually do something.
First, a few more years you will be old enough to vote. Start preparing now. Learn about what is happening in your neighborhood, your city. Look for candidates that you think might make a difference and then get your little butt out there to help them.
Look at your self. Try to figure out what you can change about Chris that my make things better. Change them. Only YOU can do that.
Fall in love. Trust me on this, the horror of genocide pales to insignificance when compared to the pain and suffering of the first great love.
Most of all, understand the difference between you, your feeling, the world and how the world appears.
The children sat around the fire
huddled together in fear,
as the old man told tales of ghosts.
And,
deep in their wide eyes,
I saw a smile sparkle.

Re: what? dont jump to conclusions
I still don't see how you separate dancing the good dance in the here and now and preparing for an eternal future. What is the difference?
If you do the former you will have done the later. Under either perspective, Theistic or Atheistic, that holds true. Under the former, you are following the Great Commandment while under the later, the aid you have given to others will help them and they in turn will help others.
As St. Paul said, "Fight the Good fight." As jesus said, "In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
