Hey, this is a Coffee House...go ahead and pour out your soul!
Do you want to switch to DeCaff, or should we hit up some more of the strong stuff?
I just want to hear some of you and your brothers music! If it is as soulful as your posts, it will probably be some GOOD blues!
BTW when are you guys gonna call me?

Wassup, Alasdair..welcome to EVC! So how goes YOUR life, anyway?
As for me I live in Denver....some days are better than others...

3) Therefore, shit happening is evidence of an afterlife.
What do you think, Alasdair? Elaborate a bit...

In a nutshell, Eastern Philosophy has its reincarnations...giving us a chance to do better and all...while Western christianity basically says that the only way to do better
is to admit that God=perfection, God=Love, God=the way and to trust Him rather than try alone. Christianity is a beautiful philosophy when you take the organized religion and all the political b.s. out of it.

Alasdair da lurker
Yeah...its odd that you mention it. I am a Christian because I have had some deep personal revelations and experiences that proved Him to me..but I don't go for all of that AIG stuff..(Answers In Genesis)
Brian is a theology prof who has had logic and education convince him the other way.
And then there is Chris...well, I'll let Chris tell you about himself.

Alasdair, you have to understand Troy. He is unique. He also likes to tease Chris. Chris usually ignores him.
Getting back on topic, what is your philosophy of life, Alasdair?
You know that while I am typing this, I am watching Punk'd on T.V and you kinda look like Ashton Kutcher. Do the ladies say that to you also?

Usually, I break it all down like this:
One side believes that Man invented religion. In fact, the origen of all thought concepts to do with life originated with human wisdom(or the lack thereof)
The other side believes that God exists (although they can't prove it) and that God is the origin of all that is.
I tend to believe the second point, largely due to events that I have experienced in my life. Did you lurk around any of our posts on these topics previously?
BTW what are you studying in school? Do you want to go to college? Majoring in?

"It is as impossible for man to demonstrate the existence of God as it would be for even Sherlock Holmes to demonstrate the existence of Arthur Conan Doyle."
---
"Religion points to that area of human experience where in one way or another man comes upon mystery as a summons to pilgrimage."
---
"People are prepared for everything except for the fact that beyond the darkness of their blindness there is a great light. They are prepared to go on breaking their backs plowing the same old field until the cows come home without seeing, until they stub their toes on it, that there is a treasure buried in that field rich enough to buy Texas. They are prepared for a God who strikes hard bargains but not for a God who gives as much for an hour's work as for a day's. They are prepared for a mustard-seed kingdom of God no bigger than the eye of a newt but not for the great banyan it becomes with birds in its branches singing Mozart. They are prepared for the potluck supper at First Presbyterian but not for the marriage supper of the lamb".

What do I know about music, tho? I know what I like...so Proph is like Hendrix, eh? I remember when I was hangin out with my friends at 17...several of them were into music, but out of about 8 or so that were into music, only 2 or 3 ever kept it up. They are quite good today. One of them, Dave Xaviars, used to take guitar lessons from a guy named Rene Herrera, a flamingo guitarist expert. His previous influnence was Hendrix. He has a wild style of music now! Once I sold him my car and he traded it for a guitar...did'nt bother to change over the title and so the guy that got the car hit a corvette and shattered it...the bill came back to me! Lesson learned: Always do the paperwork!

I revised my message.(edited) You can call now if you get bored...I gotta go to work at 6:30 p.m. tonite...that is 8;30 p.m. NY time.
Charles, does Chris seem insane to you? I think that he just uses EvC to rant once in awhile...we always see that side of him... but that does not mean that he is bi-polar or anything.
I know a girl who is on lots of meds for that stuff... she would be better off on NO meds I think...but her Doctors obviously disagree...

So when you say that
I'm not going to whine about hardships, tragedy, deaths etc.. within my life when there's ppl dying from radiation
you mean that we in America and the western nations of affluence IN GENERAL have nothing to complain about on any given Monday, right? My friend had cancer...he is healed now! He never complained because when he was in the cancer ward he saw others who were far worse off...he is 27 and they were all over 60...but he is a strong spiritual person. He has three kids...
When you say
Why should ppl get good lives?
do you mean that in your opinion people really are not owed good lives by God or by chance? BTW you said that you are a deist now, eh? Gods giving you a recess.

How cool is a phone call?
Chris, what happened to you? I am kinda bummed that you and Prophex don't call me.If you are busy, I can relate, tho. Can you call me Sunday between ten a.m. and 4 p.m. N.Y. time?
I can tell you a lot more in a phone call than I could ever type here in twenty posts! Maybe I can even hear some of Hendrix/Prophex.
