Re: oh boy!
tell me, what expertise would a computer programmar and geophysicist have on DNA? why would we consider him a source on DNA? the reason we ask this is, I could look at DNA and say the same bloody thing as a programmer, why ask him?
you don't ask a plumber how to fix a car or ask a mechanic how to fix your sink. i'd ask this guy about the earth or programming not aboud DNA
As far as the Christian College is concerned, the professor is only affirming the Statement of faith of that college. What is wrong with this? You do not go there. leave them alone.
why do you care if we question the school? the fact is a christian school might say DNA is too complex for reasons outside of science. so sorry if we take this with a grain of salt
{ABE:after reading back i realized, the school teachs a bible based education, well there you go, it doesn't really help them have any authority about DNA}

Re: oh boy!
Everyone has a right to his or her own opinion. The issue is whose opinions are based on truth.I am trying my best to do this. Software engineer writes programs for everyone and every field. He does not have to be a biologist.In fact, non biologist software programmer writes better programs for biology as he will not have any preconceived notions. A new field has arisen. It is Bioinformatics.
no its a matter of whether what you say is factual and knowlegeable. he may not have to have a phd in biology but he had better understand what biology is about and what biologist do, which means its better to be a biologist!
You can interpret the bible the way you want. You can take some parts and interpret the way you want. What does God say? this is the question you, I and everyone has to answer.
god hasn't said anything in 3000 years if he ever said anything

Re: oh boy!
Do you mean to say that those 3 billion people who consider Bible as the true word of God are all fools or liars?
there arn't 3 billion people that believe the bible is the true word of god, that would mean half of the human population and i know thats not true
and a lot of christian groups do not consider the bible to be 100% the word of god
oh and an arguement from majority is a sad falicy to use

Re: oh boy!
this is is really off topic and unsupported by any evidence
as per the topic: the fact is ID doesn't explain anything better that current theories do, nor does it produce good science. I mean what would it intail - some intellegence some how in some unknown way produced the universe in an unexplained fashion - more than likely it was god - even if you use no god in the storie it teachs nothing that current science teachs
