Yes, but this simple truth just has to be denied by the PC brigade. it's funny that you keep calling me pc. i really don't consider myself pc -- like that's some kind of damnation anyways, right? in fact, there are a great many pc movements i'm openly against. i don't deny that by far most terrorists today are muslim, and there is a great problem in the islamic world right now. i just don't think the problem is islam itself -- and railing against islam, or palestinians, or lebanon or iran, or any entire group of people neither helps, nor sounds like anything but racism. you consistently attack all things islamic here, faith. it sure LOOKS like racism. if everytime someone mentioned judaism, a member talked about how judaism causes greed and love of money, and how it was all based on a lie, wouldn't that sound like racism to you? why is it different for islam?

Canaanites, Arach. Canaanites and amorites. It wasn't called Palestine in those days. see exodus 23:31
— = palushtim = "philistines" = palestinians. it's the same word in hebrew.
If modern day palestinians (The word palestine is connected to the Philistines)are somewhat related to the ancient peoples of canaan, then that as yet to be determined. the issue isn't whether they are connected or not. it doesn't matter. the bible says drive out the palestinians, and there are people in israel today called palestinians. so, taken at face value... So they are named after the Philistines. Are they related to the Philistines? If not, then it is an improper term. And the land thus shouldn;t be named "Palestine" but "Philistia". And the word is translated "Philistines" not "Palestinians" and has been done so for quite a long time.
And if there is no relation to the ancient Philistines, then they should be called and only called Arabs.
Arachnophilia writes: The Bible says drive out the Palestinians The word "palestinians" is not found in the Bible. "Philistines" is. The word "Palestinians" is probably a Latin term for "Philistines". Hebrew was around a long time before Latin, and thus the term "Philistines" is more proper. Let me do some searching though... "Fundamentalism" means taking the scriptures of the religion literally after all. I thought this was pretty hilarious as neither Christian or Moslem "Fundamentalists" take their religious texts literally at all! Both twist the text to their blasphemous and intollerant worldview. Of course, biblical creationists are committed to belief in God's written Word, the Bible, which forbids bearing false witness; --AIG (lest they forget)

They are only bombing strategic targets and unlike Hezbollah do not intentionally hit civilian targets. They're rocketing cities, Buz. Israel is shooting rockets into cities, at random. Eight civilians died yesterday from just that. What strategic targets are being targeted, here? They're aiming at residential areas, not industrial or military targets. They're specifically targeting civilian areas. Where do you get your information?

I was wrong, it (the word "palestinian" was a greek term that Herodotus used, which came from the word "Philistines". It was simply a word the Greeks used to describe Philistines and the land of Palestine (Canaan).
Although Bedouin Palestinians are mostly arab, the Palestinians as a whole seem to be related to not only arabs, but a huge number of peoples, such as Romans, crusader europeans and jews. See both sites for details: Palestine - Wikipedia and Palestinians - Wikipedia "The Nephilim where in the Earth in those days..." Genesis 6:4

So they are named after the Philistines. Are they related to the Philistines? If not, then it is an improper term. And the land thus shouldn;t be named "Palestine" but "Philistia". it's been called "philistia" for 2,000 years. "palestine" is a recent term. it's exactly the difference between saying "jerusalem" and "yerushaliym." you get different sounds when you transliterate something through an intermediate language, like greek.
And the word is translated "Philistines" not "Palestinians" and has been done so for quite a long time. specifically because it's the same word, to avoid confusing the two groups. but in hebrew, it's the same name.
The word "palestinians" is not found in the Bible. "Philistines" is. The word "Palestinians" is probably a Latin term for "Philistines". Hebrew was around a long time before Latin, and thus the term "Philistines" is more proper. well... no. pehs/fehs at the beginning of a word take a hard P sound, not a soft F sound, and that's a shin, not a sin. so it's plshtym. "palestinians" and "philistines" are equally acceptible, just like "joshua" and "jesus" are both used.

Although Bedouin Palestinians are mostly arab, the Palestinians as a whole seem to be related to not only arabs, but a huge number of peoples, such as Romans, crusader europeans and jews. People are often suprised about how many fair skinned, light eyed folk there are in my family with documented unbroken heritage from that region for dozens of generations. My sister randomly popped out with blonde hair and blue eyes. My grandmother has green eyes. I have a whole family of cousins all with dark hair, fair skin, and blue eyes. All Palestinians. Surely now it is time for Bush and Blair to step in and tell Israel that enough is enough. The US and the UK have been staying Israel's hand since its inception, begging, pleading, imploring Israel not to fight after they've been attacked. There are innumerable instances where Israel has done nothing, whatsoever, even after being attacked. How many Hamas attacks have occured where Israel does nothing? How many SCUDS landed inside Israel during the first Gulf War and Israel did absolutely nothing? They've put up alot of needless crap for a long time. At some point you're going to have to give them a chance to defend themselves.
Israel is getting away with state terrorism against innocent Palestinian civilians. This last week or so the Israeli government has sanctioned actions which have resulted in the deaths of manu innocent Palestine civilians. They are deliberately targetting, amongst other things, civilian ameneties, and they really do not care who they kill in the process. Israel has launched assaults against military targets. And before you claim that Hamas is a terrorist organization, that is only half true. Hamas IS the Palestinian government and they have poked and proded Israel into a fight since its inception. Furthermore, Israeli troops aren't "targeting" civilians anymore than US and UK forces are instructed to attack Iraqi civilians. And if you want to argue that point, then why didn't the US simply decimate Iraq? Why? Because it isn't true. Its a baseless assertion propagated by the Left and all their lies. Likewise, Israel engages combatants who are trying to KILL them. That is absolutely justified under the Geneva Convention.
If this was any other nation Bush and Blair would do something about it, the UN would do something about it, can you imagine the outcry if the UK had bombed Ireland during the troubles? If you don't think that the US or the UK isn't tragically concerned about what's going on, then you have no concept of reality. The US and the UK are terrified at the prospective outcome, which is Syria, Iran, and host of other nations getting in on the action. Nobody wants this, but point the finger where it belongs... at Hamas!
The latest news is that the Palestine gov is calling for International help to stop the Israeli invasion of their country, so why is Israel getting away with State Terrorism, why is the civilised world sitting back and doing nothing? Because they aren' engaged in state terrorism. But if you really want to know, the UN always backs up the Palestinians. Everything is falling into place. You'll get all that you want... But we'll see if you want what your going to get. “Always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you.” -1st Peter 3:15

Regarding the Islam = Terrorism argument..
It is worth noting that until around 2000 the leading users of suicide-bombing tactics were the Tamils of Sri Lanka - mostly Hindus. Edited by RickJB, : No reason given.

it's been called "philistia" for 2,000 years. "palestine" is a recent term. Where are you getting this from? I've heard that it has been called "Palestine" since the Roman Empire started calling it that, since the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD, as a slap in the face to the Jews for whom it had been called Judea before that. I'm sure it's a Romanization of "Philistia" but the Roman name is the one that was used ever since. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.
