The Energizer Bunny Topic...
...it just keeps going and going and going.
Seriously now, of all the fruitless topics we have here at EvC, what ranks higher than all of the boogie-man-moslem topic?
Even when it is not the ACTUAL topic, like this one for example, it alwasy seems to end up as a place for the paraniod rantings of the other abrahamic faiths.
Take the last time we visited this for example. I seem to recall it going something like this.
Faith: The Koran says to kill all the Jews!
Jazzns: Uh, no it doesn't. Show us where.
Faith: ...
Jazzns: Still waiting.
Faith: ...
Jazzns: Um, did you mean this oft trotted out "war" verse? Notice how it doesn't say anything about the Jews and also how in context it is way different? Did you mean this one?
Faith: ...
Jazzns: So when you going to find that verse huh?
Faith: I'll get back to you...
Thread gets closed, new one starts, "blah blah ideology blah blah", "blah blah religious imperialism blah blah", rest and repeat.
Is anyone else a little tired of this crap?

Re: The Energizer Bunny Topic...
Why would we tire of it?
I guess for me I get tired of it because they express their political and religious opinion tantamount to fact. While I suppose this is no different then in the "science-ish" discussion that go on here, at least in that arena the raw scientific ignorance is so glaring that I don't worry about how that is going to come across to the reader.
Anyone who wants to go investigate these claims can go to google and will turn up any number of anti-Islam sites that simply regurgitate themselves like one big circle-jerk.
Anything that is an attack upon the faith is met with fierce vitrol that includes Islam and evolution. Anti-evolution retorts just so happen to have the dying urgency al-la flat earth while violence within Islam is a very tenious geo-political problem at the moment. It is much easier to convert people into Islam haters that it is to creationism. IMO.
Whatever happened to matt 5:44
Christian principles tend to be thrown out the window when one feels the faith is under attack. Ironic a bit I suppose. I am guilty of it as much as anyone.

Re: You keep making such allegations.
What do you expect Jar? Most positions that are false are very difficult to support when you try to examine the specific details too closely. It is par for the course for fundamentalism of all stripes. Propaganda is your friend, facts and objective analysis are your enemy. It is the only way to sustain an intellectually unmaintainable worldview.
There is always going to be Islam hate sites out there especially now since Islam is going through a crisis. Whether or not it will survive in its non-fundamentalist form is yet to be seen but positions as thouse espoused on those sites are certainly not helping at all. Religion is far too easy to pervert which is why fundamentalism can even exist to begin with. It is that same ease to pervert that gives Faith's sources the facade of truth, further fueling the counter fundamentalism and obscuring the real issues and dangers. There is a REAL problem out there stemming from fundamentalist Islam but that needs to be identified and addressed for what it is and not this false and hateful characture created by this purist antagonism.

Re: War with????
"Fundamentalism" means taking the scriptures of the religion literally after all.
I thought this was pretty hilarious as neither Christian or Moslem "Fundamentalists" take their religious texts literally at all! Both twist the text to their blasphemous and intollerant worldview.

Re: Correction
Although Bedouin Palestinians are mostly arab, the Palestinians as a whole seem to be related to not only arabs, but a huge number of peoples, such as Romans, crusader europeans and jews.
People are often suprised about how many fair skinned, light eyed folk there are in my family with documented unbroken heritage from that region for dozens of generations. My sister randomly popped out with blonde hair and blue eyes. My grandmother has green eyes. I have a whole family of cousins all with dark hair, fair skin, and blue eyes. All Palestinians.

Re: who learned from who?
You know very well that the jihadic scriptures of the koran have been given many many times and much historical background showing that violence is the literal interpretation of them.
In fact this is not true. There has been much wailing and gnashing of teeth but no one on this board has ever addressed the refutations provided to the many quote mined and bare assertions of the position for which you espouse.
You are just merely dodging. You have merely switched tactics from the, "I'll get back to you" move to the equally ineffective, "It has already been shown many times so I don't need to bother to support my position."
Where is that verse Faith? You know the one in the Koran where it says to kill all the Jews? We are all eagerly waiting.

Some sad words from one of my favorite bands.
I don't agree with Tool's basic worldview being that they are blatantly anti-Christian but I can't not love their music. I was listening to this song while I got caught up with this thread.
Right In Two - From 10,000 Days:
Angels on the sideline,
Puzzled and amused.
Why did Father give these humans free will?
Now they're all confused.
Don't these talking monkeys know that Eden has enough to go around?
Plenty in this holy garden, silly monkeys
Where there's one you're bound to divide it
Right in two
Angels on the sideline,
Baffled and confused.
Father blessed them all with reason,
And this is what they choose?
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs they forge a blade
And where there's one they're bound to divide it
Right in two
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs they make a club,
And beat their brother down.
How they survive so misguided is a mystery.
Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability,
To lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here.

Re: Some sad words from one of my favorite bands.
uh, i'm not so sure
Not necessarily Tool but just about the same, see the song 'Judith' from A Perfect Circle.
Maynard, if he is not anti-Christian, he seems to at least have hated God at some point in his life. Then again, haven't we all.
