The problem is the Bible is supposed to be universal, for all people in all times. Yet this passage condones kidnapping and rape. You wave this away saying there's a context in which we must understand it. If one were to do today what's prescribed in this verse would that be okay? If not, why include the passage in the Bible at all? It seems pretty useless if there's a context we have to look at, if we have to understand that in those times it was okay, but it's not anymore, so don't do it.
