yes, let's trade up wartime rape when you're only victimized a few times for forced marriage when you're victimized for the rest of your life by your captor and not to mention continually abused my your new mother in law because you're a dirty midianite and aren't good enough for her son and aren't raising her grandchildren right... oh yes and did i mention potentially raped every night for the rest of your life?
so much better, really.
i hate when people defend crap like this because it was "better than the customs of the time". if god said it, it should be better than the best cultures of all time, which i hope haven't happened yet. people and logic don't seem to mix very well. i mean. if god is only a slight improvement on human standards and his standards slowly evolve just ahead of humanity.. well, what's the point?

you don't have a very good idea of what rape means.
rape means any form of sexual violation, including if you decide you want to have sex, but you're not ready and the man decides not to wait for you to get lubricated enough for it to be comfortable or even enjoyable when you ask. this is rape as well and it is just as traumatic. it is when one partner takes advantage of another partner no matter what the degree.
it doesn't matter why the women were treated that way. the fact that god's law does not create full rights and protections for women in it's original form demonstrates that it is flawed. god is perfect, his law is supposed to be as well. you claim god's law is perfect. his commands here demonstrate it is not.

Re: Extraordinary Ordinary Rape
Are chimpazees required to care for the female for life?
Do they get stoned to death for raping?
animals sometimes punish each other for trying to usurp breeding rights.

Re: Extraordinary Ordinary Rape
absolutely. something like this part of the old testament saying that it's okay to commit mass murder and mass rape to protect israel's world sovereignty.
sounds like king of the hill to me. in fact, they're still fighting to be kings of the temple mount...

if god does not change, his morality should not change. he says he does not change.

i'm not the one who said he doesn't change. if he chooses to limit himself, that's his business. but if he is and was and always will be the same and just as omnipotent and omniscient and perfect, then his morality must be absolute and unchanging. clearly it is not.
