Mike, since I am not a "bible basher" like you, I would like to hear what you have to say about what Jesus thought about homosexuality.
Lam, in my year here at the forum I have made exactly one statement about homosexuality and it was to Crashfrog. Basically I deduce that there is nothing in the bible to suggest that it is out and out wrong. In
Leviticus - it only mentions lust and "confusion". As for Jesus, I can't remember him saying anything about it.
I choose not to be prejuduced against people or judge a particular attribute they have. Basically, I can only throw you an opinion about homosexuality because of the lack of input in scripture, which even then leaves me uncomfortable because I don't want to run the risk of judging people. So here goes:
Basically, I have nothing against gay people, To me - you are equal and discrimination isn't my ball park. Steven Spielberg recently said - in an interview concerning the holocaust, that prejudice leads to such things as what the nazis did to the Jews. He said if we only accepted those we are "uncomfortable" with rather than persecuting them for being different to our own selves then the world would be better. Christ's message was to all, he would accept anyone because he came not to call the righteouss, but sinners to repentance. So basically, in my opinion, if all you were judged for in this life, was your "homosexuality" then you would be the former = righteouss. I.e. If your only being "yourself" makes you guilty of something, then we are all doomed. Don't forget, Christ also said "judge not lest you be judged".
So, sorry to dissapoint you if you wanted a debate against what "those" bible-bashers might say. However, as you said - you won the debates because basically you are correct, there is nothing in the bible that can justify homophobia.
