mike the wiz writes: If women are so low in the bible, why did Christ treat them so equally?Remember the prostitute? Or the Samarian woman? Besides this, one who is christian must ask "what would Christ do?". We can only conclude that we must also treat women equally.
In other words, you want people to feel free to ignore everything else that was said in the bible regarding the subject and do what THEY think Jesus would do?

1 Corinthians 14If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church If that doesn't imply inferiority, then I don't know what will.

I am not religous by any mean. Wanna tell me what's going on with the "living word?"

First of all, I would like to apologize to the thread starter for going off topic a little bit. To the moderators, I am holding a grenade, so don't even think coming near me.
Mike, since I am not a "bible basher" like you, I would like to hear what you have to say about what Jesus thought about homosexuality. Most arguments against homosexuality I have heard from bible literalists are examples taken from Leviticus. However, so far I've been able to shoot all of them down because Leviticus also forbids people to do a whole bunch of other things that we do all the time today. I can't say that I've heard anyone used the "living word" to argue against homosexuality. For me, I have not heard a single valid argument against homosexuality that I can't shoot down. Perhaps I am myself biased about this matter and not being as objective as I'd hope I would because I am *ahem* one myself. I would like to hear your input on this.

I've read about 5 pages of that thread and I am already angry at the ignorance that some of those people showed.

I know what you're talking about. I just finished reading all 21 pages.
Joralex ran away after page 4 when he figured out he can't logically answer any of the questions that others had for him. He tried to dodge the questions by making statements like "We can play games all day long but then we'd just be playing games, wouldn't we?" He refused to answer directly to anyone and finally ran away. We then had Zealot, who I would love to punch his nose right now. Again, he used all the circular arguments in the world that anyone can think of. He answered Froggie with all kinds of poetry that completely dodge the main question: "Can you help me understand why you don't think that stuff adds up to worse than what's probably going to happen to your son? I'm begging you, please!"

Hey Atos, in the future could you please click on the smaller reply button with the red arrow just so it would make it easier for people to know what post and who you are responding to?
Don't worry, I was the same when I first joined. Believe me, that reply to a specific person or post makes it a lot easier to read, especially on a big forum like this. The Laminator

Mike, to be honest, I wasn't looking for a debate with you on the matter. I know that my knowledge of the "living word" is very limited. If you said that all homos will go to hell or something like that, it would have taken me a while to catch up to you. Unlike Leviticus, the "living word" has caught me completely off guard. Can't say I can make a strong argument surrounding the "living word."

WILLOWTREE writes: This thing about religious people murdering a gay person reveals your hysterical hatred of christianity. Religious people had nothing to do with that particular crime - it was redneck heterosexuals. I have not heard of a single non-religious person that is against homosexuality. The only way you can justify homophobia is resorting to the bible and interpret it in your own sick way. The Laminator

Brad writes: so then does homosexuality and hysteria have comparable "projections"? and if so why would there be then no way to 'balance' this? Please clarify. I am terrible at interpreting such message. The Laminator

buzsaw writes: The fact is that men have primarily been the generals, the kings, the house heads and the decision makers for thousands of years on this planet. That should tell you something. Get with the age old world wide program, CF.
If you put a rational person and an irrational person into the same room and lock the door. Coincidently, the irrational person happens to have a knife. Guess who will be the dominant person in the room. If you think people in the past know best, what about the concept of slavery? Remember that black Africans were ruled by the Vatican as subhuman. Are you going to make the case that blacks are less than human just because in the past they have always been regarded as less than human? Get with the program, and welcome to the post-modern era.
