I'm no socialist, but I would like to see some form of national health insurance. I know they have it in some other countries, but I don't know how well it works.

But for the providing of necessary services to the people that need them, the corporate model simply isn't appropriate
What would you include under "necessary services"?

There seem to be different definitions of "socialism" at work here.
Crashfrog was talking about a mix between privately run businesses and government-run services--the "welfare state" we might call it.
Randman is talking about communism.
Which are you referring to?
