The truth is, I don't think Crash is particularly interested in being a moderator. Moderating means suffering fools, and I don't think he much enjoys that.

If we convince ourselves that our arguments are ironclad and not open to question, might it be that we become our own authority and thus potentially close minded? Sure. We should neither be afraid to investigate the possibility that we're wrong, nor be afraid to convince others that they are.

The truth is, I don't think Crash is particularly interested in being a moderator. Moderating means suffering fools, and I don't think he much enjoys that. Haha! Well, I never think of anybody here as a fool, though I may not think much of the argumentation they've put forth to defend a position. Truth be told I'd rather be in the thick of it, and I don't think I could participate to the same degree were I a moderator. But thanks for the kind words, Schraf. We have been on different sides of stuff, but I've never thought less of you or anybody for disagreeing with me.

NJ, open up the thread and let someone else close it, and please make admin actions in your admin name. Here is what really happened: EvC Forum got lucky when NJ happened to close the thread. Since the thread was closed right at the magic number no one has a case to complain because 300 was reached. But EvC Forum and the hardline pro-Atheist faction hated my thread. They have no answers for the points I made. These points were exposing the self-evident pro-Atheist nature of evolution and isolating TEists to be fools. This is why I said EvC Forum got lucky when NJ closed the thread. I believe Lithodid-Man was told off the board not to reply to my rebuttal of his Materialism post. Most posters at EvC do not realize that I and a few other Creationists are tolerated, but hated. Kurseu was making some good points at the end of the thread and I did not have time to respond to them. Crashfrog evaded the tough points like the plague, and Jar did his usual "everything is an unsupported assertion" routine. The point is that evolution is NOT really open for scrutiny or falsification. My thread was derailed endlessly (between posts 101 and 225); the evo mods did not care because the subject was perceived to harm evolution irreparably. At least Kuresu was not afraid to confront the ugly facts. Shame on Crashfrog and Jar for their incessant hand waving and evasions, psychologically indicative of the inability to refute. Ray

Crashfrog evaded the tough points like the plague So you say, but it was actually my rebuttals to you which went unanswered. Don't get me wrong. There are some people whose asses I tend to ride about how they act and post. I bring it up with them because I believe they have the capacity and honesty to recognize the problem and change. But even the best creationist among you, CFO, is ten times as evasive and dishonest. And the worst part is I don't think any of you can get better about it. Your mendacity in this post is the proof.

NJ to Kuresu writes: It just sounds to me like you should stop using drugs. They're making you paranoid. Naw, I tried that. It doesn't help. In some sense, the forum is one long conversation, so no poster ever gets the last word. All media could be considered one, and all its content one discussion--and we can always publish another book, broadcast another comment, etc. But we parse that constant flow of communication into discrete bundles, and it is shrewd human nature to find advantage in having the last word in any given segment. After all, we read books, not libraries; we might read an entire thread about atheism, but almost certainly we won't read every thread. So a closed thread becomes a finished artifact, bookended by an OP and a final comment, both likely to be among the most memorable it contains. Getting in the last word and then stamping The End was inappropriate, but it wasn't a big deal until you insisted it was no deal at all. By the way, Crash is brash and sharp-tongued: I happen to think he's right on substance more than 90% of the time, and justified in his umbrage nearly as often. There have been a thousand posts to which I didn't have to reply because Crash got there first. I'd regret seeing him divert any of that energy and passion to moderation. Real things always push back. -William James Save lives! Click here!Join the World Community Grid with Team EvC! ---------------------------------------

Most posters at EvC do not realize that I and a few other Creationists are tolerated, but hated. Huh? Most of us are those "pro-evolution atheist god-haters", or whatever it is that you call us. If most of us don't realize that, then who is doing the hating? If it's truly good and powerful, it deserves to engender a thousand misunderstandings. -- Ben Ratcliffe
