Re: Clarification on Jar
quote:
I could not be anymore happier that Jar finally got what was coming to him even though the actual message that landed him in the slammer was rather tame and predictable since he is an Atheist-evolutionist who claims to be a Christian. If I were Admin I would ban Jar for life until he sends an email to EvC profusely apologizing for his incessant wicked behavior, including permission to post it publicly. Then he should be forced to shave his head and tossed into Showcase to wait for likes of a Kuresu or CK to come and visit him.

After trimming off the loveless rhetoric, seconded
(It is worth noting that a particular section of Evc will always consider Jar to occupy a postion not all that dissimilar to the more senior of 'The Screwtape Letters' personalities. Unless Jar is born again at some point- that is.)

After you've "trimmed off" the lies and the hatred, what else is there?
I didn't say Ray was telling lies. I would say he is telling the truth in many respects. It's just a bit loveless..s'all. Kind of forgetting that Ray was as lost as Jar is once upon a time. Not that I wouldn't fall into the same trap as Ray it must be said.
Jar is not a Christian. Never has been (but hopefully will be). From Rays perspective (and mine) Jar is a 5th Columnist - and could expect to be (as per type) particularily reviled by those who recognise him for what he is.
Where it not that we are called to love our enemies.
Christianity is indeed a crutch. Made from thorns..

Iano's reaction when Jar dared say that Hovind should actually suffer the penalty of law for his crimes suggests that he, at least, doesn't care about justice. It's all about who's on "his side". Maybe the others feel in much the same way. People on "their side" should be allowed to do whatever they want - the rules should not be applied to them. Buzsaw's insistence that criticism of creationists should not be allowed may be an example of that sort of thinking.
How delightfully revisionist! I have no problem at all with Kent Hovind being brought to justice, being tried by his peers and being sentenced according to law. Other than finding him entertaining to watch in the couple of youtube clips I have seen I could barely comment on the man. Note that I would find the evo-equivilent equally entertaining - were it so that such a one existed (Richard Dawkins is about the closest equivilent that springs to mind). I take neither seriously.
My objection to Jar had to do with his delight in a man (any man)being sentenced to (as it was at the time potentially) a very, very long time in prison. Justice is one thing. Delight in it quite another. It was the delight that repulsed me and drove me to object.

Or maybe not. But it still seems that some sort of explanation is in order.
Now you have it. The reason I didn't comment on the nutbag creos of my day was simple. I didn't read them. Who wants to read nutbags from anyside?
An aside:
Regarding this supposed two-tier rule system. Either apply the rules equally to all and "have no more Creos". Or apply a two-tier rule system and quit complaining about having to do so. It is unbecoming to want it all ways - especially when its evos doing the application and evos doing the complaining. Sometimes you can see things from a distance that all of you close up can't see anymore

Hovind's got away with a lot for a long time. He's got a record of fancying himself above the law, and there was a rather unpleasant assault case he was involved in, too. I'm glad that he has finally paid the penalty for something. It needed to be done.
If it is as you say then I have no quibble with justice being applied.

Jar, your looking more like the sickest of psycos with every elapsing minute. God have mercy (and I do say it with extreme difficulty) on your black soul.
PaulK writes:
Quite frankly I have to say that my judgement stands. Especially coming from someone who believes in a literal Hell. Even if the court gave Hovind the maximum sentence - which he would never serve anyway - it would be nothing compared to Hell.
Your judgement never raised itself above the horizontal let alone stand. We have some conjecture about my defending (uber-alles) a man I know virtually nothing about. This I have not done.
The desire that God have mercy on Jars soul was said with difficulty because I am a sinner. I don't love my enemy as I should. But I still desire it - for if God has mercy on Jars black soul then Jar will not go to Hell. This I know because God had mercy upon my black soul 7 or so years ago. I know of what I speak.
You apparently, do not.
quote:
And quite frankly if Dawkins is the closest you can find on the evolutionist side to Hovind then evolution is in great shape. Because there really is no comparison.
I said he was the closest that sprang to mind at the time. After reading The God Delusion (or as much as I could bear) I can't say that the one comes across as anything less of a comedian than the other. One of them does it tongue in cheek (or at least he did before he justly and correctly got hisself banged up).
