Two half wrongs aren't half right.
AdminBuzsaw writes:
Btw, are you aware that it was Admin who administered the suspension on Jar and not AdminBuz?
I see only half of my complaint to you was accurate. I apologize for the error.
But it still seems evident to me that a moderator who argues a personal position--and in an insulting manner, to boot--has been provocative, and an in-thread reply does not deserve a suspension.
Nor were Jar's comments off-topic. But if they were, so were most of those that came before, including mine and Admin's.
As to whether they were a lie: the truth or falsity of his comments is one facet of our debate. It would be reasonable for you--as Buzsaw, not as AdminBuzsaw--to declare them false, but not to call them a lie. Folks get suspended for that.
So shame on both of you.

Real things always push back.

I could not be anymore happier that Jar finally got what was coming to him even though the actual message that landed him in the slammer was rather tame and predictable since he is an Atheist-evolutionist who claims to be a Christian. If I were Admin I would ban Jar for life until he sends an email to EvC profusely apologizing for his incessant wicked behavior, including permission to post it publicly. Then he should be forced to shave his head and tossed into Showcase to wait for likes of a Kuresu or CK to come and visit him.

Let me suggest what I suggest to people who want to censor television: Just don't look at it. It's not as if you were listening to your favorite EvC Forum sounds, and this track came blaring off the web. You have to actively click to read the material that bothers you so much.
So just don't do it.
And who is this "we" you refer to--got something in your pocket?

As a member of this community, I have a right to share my opinion. You guys have been having the opinion that Jar was unjustly suspended and Faith should come back. I am having my opinion that it is good that you guys are having those opinions, but you guys are dragging this way out of proportion.
Yes, you have a right to share your opinion. Did anyone tell you to stop going on about your opinion? The fellow who tells others to stop talking about their opinions feels suddenly the need to assert his right to express an opinion? Surely you see the humor in that.
An unexamined "we" is not worth citing: undefined, it sounds either awfully large and/or awfully tenuous. Unless one is an appointed spokesperson, it's usually more accurate to speak for oneself. When someone implies that he speaks for a group, it's reasonable to ask for particulars about that group. Often it is a rhetorical device used to imply a majority consensus that may or may not exist.
You, of course, are welcome to use any pronoun you like when expressing your opinions.

In general, when an admin posts a moderator message it may well be a rush job based on a quick observation and a limited consideration. Such may or may not prove out to be wrong. But to have any possible useful effect (affect?) something needs to be done ASAP.
Effect.
Though I suppose a forum member could have a useful affect.
ASAP action probably wouldn't have any effect on that, though.

It just sounds to me like you should stop using drugs. They're making you paranoid.
Naw, I tried that. It doesn't help.
In some sense, the forum is one long conversation, so no poster ever gets the last word. All media could be considered one, and all its content one discussion--and we can always publish another book, broadcast another comment, etc.
But we parse that constant flow of communication into discrete bundles, and it is shrewd human nature to find advantage in having the last word in any given segment. After all, we read books, not libraries; we might read an entire thread about atheism, but almost certainly we won't read every thread.
So a closed thread becomes a finished artifact, bookended by an OP and a final comment, both likely to be among the most memorable it contains.
Getting in the last word and then stamping The End was inappropriate, but it wasn't a big deal until you insisted it was no deal at all.
By the way, Crash is brash and sharp-tongued: I happen to think he's right on substance more than 90% of the time, and justified in his umbrage nearly as often. There have been a thousand posts to which I didn't have to reply because Crash got there first.
I'd regret seeing him divert any of that energy and passion to moderation.
