Then why is the proportion of christians in jail essentially the same as the proportion of christians in the general population? Last stats I heard was that 80% of US citizens claimed to be Christian. Some gave being born in America as the reason. But just because you claim to be a Christian does not mean you are. BTW I am not perfect so I don't claim to be Christ Like but I am working on it.

Who decides, if not the person making the claim? The disciples were first called little Christos at Antioch. They were living a life like Christ.

But just because you claim to be a Christian does not mean you are. I'm sorry but that is simply laughable. If someone claims to be a Christian and is so recognized by one of the organizations of Christians, they are a Christian. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

If I'm not mistaken, your definition of Christian is someone who lives a life like Christ. I think everyone else will settle for someone who belongs to a Christian church and/or claims to be a Christian. And if you could adopt this definition for the sake of argument, it would make things much clearer and easier.

Ringo writes: Could an atheist be "like Christ"? Sure many have. All you have to do is believe in God and be born again.

I disagree, absence of evidence is never evidence of absence.
There is a point where this starts getting toss out like a mantra without understanding what is meant here and that there are limits to how this rule is applied. Lack of trace evidence can certainly be considered to be evidence. If I put my hand in my jeans pocket and can’t find my fairly large set of car keys it becomes simply silly for someone to argue I cannot say there is no evidence that my keys are absent from that pocket. If I leave my house and the sidewalks, the street, and my house are dry, I can safely conclude it not only is not raining, but that it was not raining 5, 10, or 15 minutes ago. Science does a great job at detecting the effects of causes, even in cases where the cause is neither directly detectable nor directly observable. And on the general topic (not addressed specifically to you)...My being an atheist is not based on what I can’t know and can’t check. Instead it is based on evaluating the claims of Christians themselves and finding support for those claims lacking. Now maybe there is some being out there that is more limited or very different then the claims of Christians. Even so, I don’t have a belief in that being. So I remain A (without a) theist (belief).
