Whatever has been arguing that John Kerry is unqualified to be President. His current most recent message at the New Book: Kerry ‘Unfit for Command’ topic is message 66. So Whatever, what are George W. Bushes qualities that make him superior to John Kerry? Moose

I started this topic last night, about 24 hours ago. Somehow, considering the topic title, I was expecting that there was still going to be only one message 12 hours later. Off-topic (or is it?): Have you all done the Google search for "weapons of mass destruction"? Do it, and check out the link at the top of the list. Or if you wish to skip the actual search, that link is http://www.coxar.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ Moose {Edited for the usual change ID from the admin mode - Moose} This message has been edited by minnemooseus, 08-18-2004 12:10 AM

Re: Does Bush think he lives in a Democracy?
GWB running for position of "Christian ayatollah"? How effective is a campaign appearance where all the audience members are already true believers? I guess it's to get press coverage showing how popular he is. Any thoughts on how Kerry/Bush debates are going to go? What the debates would need is a moderator that forces true debate, rather than exchanges of pre-canned statements. Moose

Dennis Kucinich (Yes, off-topic)
The caption of this photo, at Politics Today - Powerful News, Powerful Opinions, is "Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich working together to unite the Progressive Wing of the Party". Dennis Kucinich seemed to be the favored candidate of those of the most liberal/progressive/(green?) leanings. I'm told that Dennis had support from some "true conservatives" (meaning those holding the real, traditional consevative positions (as I understand them to be) such as not spending money you don't have, and not poking your nose into affairs that are none of your business). By the way, I still have a much faded "Anderson for President" bumper sticker on my pickup truck, from back in 1980. Moose

Presidential debate moderator
There, I gave this subtopic a subtitle. I think Al Frankin is too strongly connected to the left (I will vote for him if he runs for the Senate). I think Molly Ivins may also have too much of a leftist leaning. As I understand it, she was the one who popularized referring to GWB as "Shrub", although she credits Jim Hightower (another moderator candidate?) with coming up with the term. Perhaps Bill Maher is the cross the board political cynic that could do the job. Moose {Every now and then I remember to select the non-admin mode. This message was not one of those times. In a complex world, I view Bush as being simplistic and straight-forward in his wrongness. Is that a positive for Bush? That the Kerry positions are complex and maybe conflicting, while the Bush positions are simple and consistent? A lot of voters like simple and consistent, even if it's wrong? Yes, I have a lot of questions, and few answers. Moose

In no way a flip-flop
quote: The Washington Post, John Kerry has elaborated on his long-stated personal opposition to abortion in contrast with his perfectly prochoice voting record. "I oppose abortion, personally. I don't like abortion. I believe life does begin at conception," Kerry told the Tribune Herald. P.S. We all know Kerry will say the one thing and vote for the other, he flip flops on abortion, voting contrast with his belief, proving once again you can not trust this politician, etc...
I think most (probably all) pro-choice people view abortion as something to be avoided as much as possible. Still, they think it should be an legally available option to women. Just because a person is PERSONALLY against something, that doesn't mean that that person should be advocating that it be made illegal. I'm sure there's lots of things that you don't like. If you were a legislator, would you propose that they all be made illegal? Moose
