Re: The Story of St. Issa
I think the reason is that a lot of christians have built this idea that jesuses' ideas are totally original and no one thought them up before
also the idea that jesus as god wouldn't need to learn earthly things - because he's considered god
heres an interesting page i found looking things up - http://www.hindunet.org/alt_hindu/1995_May_2/msg00015.html
it seems that buddhaism was pretty well spread across many parts of the middle-east before and after jesus, also seems that many practices the jews and christians did were pretty close to budhist ceremonies

Re: The Story of St. Issa
Mystery religions?, did you bother to read the page i linked?
Budhism was pretty wide spread over the middle east infact a popular story in christianity comes from buddhas life
You can ignore that other reiigions had effect on the teachings of people in the middle east, but you wouldn't be very truthful
{ABE: off topic i guess lol}

Re: What counts as evidence?
ok i found the text in the thread, so let me ask you this buz does this sound like evidence of jesus or evidence of christians? some of it looks like its giving background information to the christians and thier story , i'd say evne if this was or was not true, it wouldn't be a case for his devinity
Accordingly, he was perhaps the Messiah, concerning whom the prophets have reported wonders
this looks more than likely inserted as he was a jew, and there was a lot of so called messahs anyway
And the tribe of the Christians, so named after him, has not disappeared to this day
why would he use this term? there was no need for it and he only called races/people tribes

Re: Antiquities 20:200
i just realized something i could not find that line anywhere, where is it buz when i look up 20,200
it says: "Convened the Sanhedrin (the highest Jewish religious court / governing body). He had brought before them the brother of Jesus the so-called Christ, who was called James, and some other men, whom he accused of having broken the law, and handed them over to be stoned."
it's a line about james, so where did you get your text from? i can't find it and i looked on at least 20 sites
yours looks like a combo of the other one not something new
{AbE:i think you got the quotes mixed up,buz, you are reading a arabic copy of 18.63-64, which is less filled with insertions, infact as i read this your quote is writen by someone else about that part, but i agree it is evidence, and a bit more truthful than the greek version}

Re: Professors of history
2. As Faith and I have both tried to tell you, a measure of evidence is there in the first two centries. That you don't accept it does not erase it. I and others have also cited other corroborating evidence, which you may not accept, such as the fact that Roman Emperor Constantine believed he existed, but it is, nevertheless evidence.
ok how does someone believing in someone give evidence to anything, using this logic, santa claus, the tooth fairy, and the roman gods exist
citing constantine believed is just a plain arguement from authority
