Discreet label made a comment here that reminded me of something I wanted to discuss here before.
You have the pride to say that the GOD communicates directly with you? That you are in touch with the alpha and omega? Such a supreme being that merely looking at him would kill you?
Now, I am not talking about any specific person here, but what I would like to know is:
What would your doctor say if you mentioned at a consultation that you regularly had conversations with God, and God tells you to do things?
You hear God's voice as if He was there in the room with you and he chats away about a variety of things. What do you think your doctor would say?
Brian.

Good tactic you doc had
He said he too talked with GOD.
Then phoned the funny farm after you had left the building?

I wonder what I would do!
Personally I would think that I had went loopy if I heard a voice claiming to be God.
Once I had checked to find out if any of my mates had been playing a trick on me, I probably would go to the doctor and ask for help!
Brian.

I vaguely remember that thread, I think I got bored with all the background noise and gave up.
Thanks for the reminder.

Re: I wonder what I would do!
Indeed, I wonder how many conversions are because of mental illnesses breaking the barrier between the concious & subconcious, however briefly.
Even more disturbing is that arguably the two single events that gave rise to and helped spread Christianity, namely Paul's Damascus road hallucination and Constantine's Milvian Bridge episode, could just have been two psychotic episodes. Although Paul continued to have delusions throughout his life.
So, the foundations of Christianity could just be based on two psychotic episodes.
Brian.

Re: praying and talking with God
What you describe could just be you attributing an emotional state to the intervention of God, you may be giving HIm too much credit.
As an aside, was your wife a Christian when you started dating her?

touchy
Why do you even care?
I'm an atheist, it is in my nature to care about all living things.
It is a burden being part of the most moral group in the world, but we do need to battle against the evil done by people who misunderstand Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
So, what did your doc say, I seem to have struck a nerve there?
Brian.

Re: touchy
My only thought to you is that you would hopefully remain open minded, and seek God in your own way.
I have sought God before, and thought I had found Him.
But I honestly do not see me returning to the fold, I have discovered far too many problems with the arguments for the existence of God.
Brian.

Ian, Faith and Rand, get to the doc and...
tell them that you have terminal 'dragging off topic' syndrome!!
At least vaguely link it to the topic.
Brian.

Re: touchy
Are you for abortion, or against it?
Depends on the circumstances.
It is too complex an issue for a yes or no answer.
Brian.
