Knowledge
One of the things I consistently come across when I debate evolution with creationists is their consistent lack of knowledge in science. I'm not saying they lack higher education, but their lack of knowledge in science seems evident by the arguments they give against evolution. Hi, Ned, and welcome. Explore some of the threads here and you won`t only find abysmal knowledge about evolution and science, but about Biblical history, translations, even contradictions. While we have knowledgeable Christians, the majority seem to been brain-washed, quoting verbatim from long-refuted books and websites, using terminology not acceptable to science, and flourishing some comforting 'fact' as gospel till we point out contrary evidence that they never considered. Who knows where the blame lies? Is it a recent phenomenon due to dumbing down by media? Is it personal laziness to have their 'ears tickled'? Is it the pressure of existence in the modern-day world, where you grab the first cab off the rank and cling to it regardless? Maybe one`s personal standard of examining all the evidence before judging is genetic. Or is it instilled by a damn good teacher in our early years?

Re: the attitude of evos
Maybe this should be taken to a different thread, but yea, I think the fact evos kept teaching something fraudulent for 125 years makes the field suspect in terms of it's standards. So, by that logic, if we find something fraudulent in the teachings of the Bible for 2000+ years, makes the field suspect in terms of its standards?

Re: the attitude of evos
Funny how evos, claiming to adhere to science, start attacking the Bible when cornered. Nothing to with the Bible really. It`s a question of integrity. If you insist on maintaining the moral high ground, then you better beware that the same accusations can`t be fitted to your belief. For example, one might ask you for transitional fossils in the Bible provenance. Or point out Haeckel isn`t the only one portraying fictions up to the present (think of those representations of Jesus as a tall, blondish white)

Re: the attitude of evos
NIghttrain, it's apples and oranges. The basis for believing in the Bible and religious beliefs is as much based on personal analysis and experience. The Bible does not present the scientific method as a means to attaining knowledge of and relationship with God. No, Randy, it`s not apples and oranges or even about science. It`s about integrity and fraud. You charge evos with perpetuating fraud with missing transitional fossils. I charge creos with perpetuating fraud with missing autographs and transitional versions (fossils). You charge evos with perpetuating fraud by retaining Haeckel`s drawings. I charge creos with perpetuating fraud by retaining depictions of an erroneous Jesus. So who stands on the moral high ground?

Truth and Faith
Do you accept as true what is said by scientists? If you do you, then you have faith. Nope, because if I have the lab equipment and the skills, I can prove it for myself. OTOH, if you accept as true what is said by creationists, can you raise the dead, heal the sick, cure the blind, speak in tongues, prove an after-life?

Re: Does education matter?
Hi, Rob,
However, I don't see why that makes me think the pope is an atheist. If you delve into the history of the papacy, not only weren`t the popes atheists, but I doubt a lot of them were even Christians.
