Why Parallel Universes?

Does going forward or backward in time really have anything to do with the fact that there is, at least one, parallel universe operating like a mirror image in another dimension? And, how much distance could there be between an object/person in this universe and the counterpart in the other? Is what we see here Positive, and the other universe Negative like a Photograph? Is it all Black and White, and do we only see colors only because we have Rod and Cones that can perceive different wave-lengths, while our counterparts have none? We read from Left to Right, do our Counterparts read from Right to Left, and does that mean they're all Jewish?
