Novel?
Thanks for the idea for my next novel.
Been done. Adjusted for technological level, that's Tristram Shandy.

Religious belief does not constitute scientific evidence, nor does it convey scientific knowledge.

Schizophrenia, yes, but that level of hallucinatory experience doesn't happen without demonic input.

You only say that because he has alluded that he is Muslim. If he were a christian, you would be praising him. Hell, you'd probably congratulate him for being so in tune with jeebus,

"Some people think God is an outsized, light-skinned male with a long white beard, sitting on a throne somewhere up there in the sky, busily tallying the fall of every sparrow. Othersfor example Baruch Spinoza and Albert Einsteinconsidered God to be essentially the sum total of the physical laws which describe the universe. I do not know of any compelling evidence for anthropomorphic patriarchs controlling human destiny from some hidden celestial vantage point, but it would be madness to deny the existence of physical laws."-Carl Sagan
"Show me where Christ said "Love thy fellow man, except for the gay ones." Gay people, too, are made in my God's image. I would never worship a homophobic God." -Desmond Tutu

No, I'd be telling him he needs to talk to an exorcist.

Maybe Richard Simmons?

Richard Simmons an exorcist?
Sorry, over my head.
Really, not an exorcist, a pastor, because I don't know where he'd find an exorcist who wasn't a charlatan. But an exorcism is what it sounds to me like he needs.

Hi, Matt.
Natural_Design writes:
While driving some guy was dressed up in a Halloween Costume and he '' threw '' a huge grey bird out infront of the truck. This bird slowly flew across the street and I brushed it with my windshield. I couldn't help but '' laugh '' at this first '' sign ''.
Once, while I was walking on the sidewalk, I accidentally stepped on a snail... I think it was a Gestapo spy snail, because it had a Pomeranian accent. I tried to call it in to the Finnish ambassador, but his secretary said he doesn't accept phone calls from my area code. She suggested I step into the next time zone and call back, but, over there, it's a hour from now: that might be too late to stop the Nazi’s plot!
So, I turned on ESPN instead, and---wouldn't you know it?---the Broncos drafted Tim Tebow! That proves that Faith was right: demons. No other explanation is possible.

Faith dear, anyone who purports to perform an exorcism is a charlatan.

No, there have been some genuine ones. Usually pastors who found themselves having to deal with this sort of thing and had to learn it on the job as it were.
In the early church, exorcisms were performed routinely as people became believers out of occultic backgrounds.

Well, maybe we should think about that then for all those times that Congress or the President does something unconstitutional, since the Supreme Court can't do anything about it.

Burned some witches too, didn't they?

Witchburning didn't happen until the middle ages. Casting out demons from new believers was standard before that.

No, I'd be telling him he needs to talk to an exorcist.
...instead of a mental health professional, who could actually prescribe anti-psychotic medication and let him live a normal life. You'd rather do an exorcism, a traumatic and entirely nonsense ritual that does little but perpetuate delusions of persecution, frequently causes real physical harm sometimes including death, and has a proven success rate of...zero percent.
Faith, you sound just like someone I once knew who told my epileptic girlfriend that her seizures would go away if only she accepted Christ.
Hint: mental illness is not caused by demons any more than goblins are responsible for the pox. There are real psychological and physical disorders that cause these issues, and your mumbo-jumbo doesn't help , at all, ever, even a little.
You, madam, are helping to hold back the progression and mental health of the entire human race. So, congratulations on that.

Oh, ok. We'll ignore that newfangled witch burning nonsense and stick with the old fashioned, tried and true nonsense. Mustn't rock the boat too much, eh?
