While we are expanding the program to include those citizens convicted of minor crimes, let's change the sentencing practices from time served to goal directed.When someone is convicted of a minor crime, instead of sentencing them to some arbitrary time period, make the sentence run until some specified goal is accomplished.For example, it could be the acquisition of a GED or College degree, learning some designated skill that could be translated into workforce skill after release, or some form of reparation such as replacement of objects lost or damaged because of the criminal incident or creation of some new facility that improves the general welfare of the community.

Don't tell me all native born are pristine candidates for citizenship.Crime is actually one of the weakest excuses possible. The last thing an illegal alien wants is a run in with the law. That is a quick way to bring them to the attention of Immigration. Fences around small enclosures can help. The US, in case you haven't noticed, is not that small.

How is a citizen neglecting to pay taxes different from an illegal alien neglecting to pay taxes?Have you forgotten when you were shown that illegal aliens pay taxes, in fact pay the very taxes that support the infrastructure that they use?Every time they buy a soda they pay sales taxes that fund state, city and county governments, when they pay rent the rent goes to pay property taxes that fund schools, when they buy gas they pay fuel taxes that fund roads and bridges.How is an illegal alien felon different than a citizen felon?Don't you ever get tired of repeating falsehoods, particularly those that have been refuted time after time?
