Hi holmes, Nukes and guns? Apples and oranges.
Guns are dangerous, Nukes are dangerous therefore all dangerous weapons should be restricted? What good is a weapon if it is not dangerous?

I have been following this discussion and find that good points are being made. It is true that a gun makes killing much easier than a knife, that is what they were designed to do. And if the availability of guns was reduced then the amount of gun violence would probably be less. Criminals would find ways of obtaining them. Law abiding citizens would be lacking in they're ability to defend they're home and family. I personally would rather have a pistol in a knife fight.
The idiot that systematically executed 23 people in the Luby's in Killeen Tx (were I live close to and was in town the day it happened.)
Were like sheep to a wolf. He was unimpeaded in walking up to tables and at point blank range killing innocent folks. If just one person in that resturant had a gun, some lives would of been saved. Yes if that insane man did not have a gun that many would not have died. Catch 22, Crazy people and criminals will get guns, and we can not un-invent the wheel. Guns are here. I assure you that here in Texas criminals now think twice as citizens are legally allowed to carry firearms. How many of you would change your mind about owning a gun if some psyco was trying to break into your home? The police are not always there to protect us. So I am against guns. But if I ever need one I sure feel better knowing I have one.

Hi schriafinator, you make good points..No I have no data to back up the suggestion that criminals may think twice before commiting a crime with the passage of firearm carry laws. I am not a criminal but if I was to think of commiting a crime against Joe Q Public I would be worried he may be armed with a pistol. Suicide with guns in the household? I will take your word for it. I saw Bowling for Columbine and M.Moore brought up the point that Canada has Millions of guns in homes and they're gun murder rate was low. Seems to me it is not the amount of guns that is the problem. Seems to me He was pointing to the media as the problem Americans have such fear. I just want to say that we can not go back in time and un-invent guns. They are here to stay. And if Australia, Canada and have large percentages of gun ownership with less gun violence then what is Americas problem?
