I remember way back when, during our 6th grade class camp-out, we were given a one-day lesson in target practice/gun safety.
Growing up in Alaska, we were always surrounded by guns. Never thought much about it. Most of us learned gun safety the way we learned about anything-safety -- just part of learning from your parents, other adults, and your buddies.
To this day, whenever I visit a buddy and we go out target shooting, we are always reminding each other of basic (and not so basic) rules. I just cannot imagine ever pointing a gun at another human being. Maybe that's why I like violent action movies -- seeing the characters violate what I consider very deep seated taboos!
Remember the movie
On the Waterfront? Toward the end, when Marlon Brando (may he rest in peace) was waving that handgun around? A room mate and I were watching that together, and we were cringing!
