Re: Bring back capital punishment
I also think that the punishments handed out in UK courts frequently verge on the obscene. I often wonder why the criminal is better treated than the victim.
Indeed - punishment shouldn't really mean 'free room and board in a place much nicer than where you live with free facilities and socialising opportunities.
Most of my opinions of controversial nature have already come up, but I'd like to add a corollary to yours. I think that the execution of the death penalty should be carried out by the closest victim (spouse or parent of murder victim for example).

Re: Bring back capital punishment
As it stands, they don't seem to be doing either. Though both would be ideal.

Re: Maybe I'm reading you wrong...
Is studying the chemistry of life, a fake science?
Is studying the physics of the chemistry of life a fake science?
A lot of things in biology are studied that have not been seen - there are plenty of theoretical models. All three subjects also study macro or 'real world' objects too. For example, the physicists that work at Nasa for space exploration are 'real world' physicists. Chemists that work in oil refining are 'real world' chemists.

Someone should make a movie epic of Wagner's 'Ring of the Nibelungs.'
Something along the lines of this?

Re: Here's goes
More than 50% of young men would violently rape a woman if they could be assured of getting away with it.
I thought it was opinions, not facts?
lol, yes I'm sure one person is able to conclude from their perception of reality the the inner mind of something of the order of a billion people (much more if we include the time dimension - in full or part).
There are so many problems associated with even gathering objective evidence for/against such a statement that I can not see any good justification for claiming its factuality emerging at any time in the near future.

I'd certainly be interested to see the results. Specifically how they manage to obfuscate the violence in violent rape. Are the studies global, or just the US/Europe whatever? Are they temporal, have we seen any interesting trends of increasing or decreasing tendencies?
This single perspective could provide a wonderful wealth of information about the way the world's zeitgeist shifts.
As an aside, I wonder what girls and gays say in comparable surveys.
