I ask myself how different I am now...ten years later! Am I still the same person I was then?
I don't know, but I'm sure you'll have no trouble digging up the threads to find out.

Re: Looking At The Evidence
Jesus is recognized as a prophet by both Islam and Judaism.
Really? Judaism?

Re: Looking At The Evidence
What passages in particular lead you to the "tenuous at best" conclusion that "Jesus is recognized as a prophet by . . . Judaism."?

Re: Looking At The Evidence
Are there passages that mention a miracle worker who speaks prophetically? Sure
And what passages would those be? What do they say?
quote:
Sanhedrin 11:
Our Rabbis taught: Since the death of the last prophets, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachai, the Holy Spirit [of prophetic inspiration] departed from Israel; yet they were still able to avail themselves of the Bath-kol.
Remember the Hebrews have a history of ignoring prophets and even killing them.
Of course. But the issue is whether the Hebrews recognize(d) a specific man as a prophet.

Re: Looking At The Evidence
So let's use the term Rabbi instead of Prophet. Is that better?
Sure. That's definitely nearer the truth. But what does that make of your earlier response to Phat's question of whether Jesus has any meaning to Jews?

Is Jesus recognized as a prophet by Islam and a rabbi by Judaism?

Re: Looking At The Evidence
In the New Testament Jesus is referred to as Rabbi in passages that are attributed to being written by Jews.
But that wasn't my question. Let me repeat it for you:
But what does that make of your earlier response to Phat's question of whether Jesus has any meaning to Jews?
quote:
jar in Message 86:
Jesus is recognized as a prophet by both Islam and Judaism.
Is Jesus recognized as a prophet by Islam and a rabbi by Judaism?
What meaning does Jesus have to Jews? And how much? Is it even the same kind of meaning that Phat was asking about?

Re: Looking At The Evidence
Well Rabbi means a teacher. Does that help?
So not much meaning at all, then?
I often have absolutely no idea what Phat is asking about.
His question was pretty clear, as was its intent.
Jesus has no meaning to Jews. He is of no significance whatsoever. The only reason Jews have anything to say about Jesus is because of his relationship to Christianity. Were there no Christianity, there would be nothing today to say about Jesus, by Jews or by anyone else.
