Curtains Ordered for Media Coverage of Returning Coffins

Since the end of the Vietnam War, presidents have worried that their military actions would lose support once the public glimpsed the remains of U.S. soldiers arriving at air bases in flag-draped caskets.
To this problem, the Bush administration has found a simple solution: It has ended the public dissemination of such images by banning news coverage and photography of dead soldiers' homecomings on all military bases.

Tell me, JF, which recent president has increased spending astronomically while also cutting taxes, resulting in an enormous budget deficit?
Now tell me which recent president has balanced the budget?

If you think there is any doubt about the offensiveness of the term, why don't you walk up to a random American of Asian descent and call him or her a "gook" and see what happens.
Do you think that he or she will say, "Hey, I'm not a Communist!"?

Re: Military Spending
quote:
please see previous, first, american chinese citizans are americans,
Yeah, so?
If the term wasn't an offensive racist term, they would say "Hey, I'm not a Communist", right?
quote:
and secondly, gook is used refer to military and leaders of china, again once more, not it's people
Uh, no, it's used to refer to all East Asian people, not just Chinese, and not just leaders or military people.
Did you read the dictionary definition that holmes provided?
I'll find one, hold on...
gook- Used as a disparaging term for a person of East Asian birth or descent.
If you didn't know that was the definition,. now you do. It's offensive, it's racist, and it is not meant to be used in polite company.

fine if your so offended by it, I won't use it again
Thanks.
I would hope that you come to understand that denigrating and dehumanizing other groups is a base and immoral path to follow when thinking about world affairs.

Re: Illegal to be a Christian
I did a bit of quick googling and it does seem to be that you can be arrested for openly being Christian in Saudi Arabia, and people have been imprisoned.
Didn't read about any executions, though.
I would ask Jesus Freak, though, to explain why our government doesn't invade Saudi Arabia because of it's persecution of it's people?

Because as wrong as it may be, saudia arabia is our allie, and they have done some favors for us over the years. (Such as letting us base our troops there in 91, though recently they have been screwing us over)
Iraq was our ally when they were at war with Iran, but we invaded them anyway.
Remember this famous photo?:
Oh, and we have the kind of tolerant relationship with Saudi Arabia that we do BECAUSE OF THE OIL. BECAUSE OF THE OIL. BECAUSE OF THE OIL.
quote:
About them exacuting the Christians, i doubt if they do it OFFICALLY, but they do support terrorist cells. There is another country in africa also that is split in half by religion, and the richer muslims in the northern half regualy come down and raid the southern half filled with Christians.
Right.
So why don't we invade them?
Why did we invade Iraq?

Re: Illegal to be a Christian

We didn't go into Iraq because of religous laws, and you are right, Iraq was not an extreamist islam country.
Correct.
quote:
Iraq supported those terrorists, but were not that themselves.
They did? They supported the 9/11 terrorists?
How?
I thought that the 9/11 hijackers were almost all Saudis, and I thought that the attack was orchestrated by Osama bin Laden with the aid of the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Am I (and the 9/11 Congressional Commission) wrong?
quote:
What we stopped was the torturing of olimpic teams if they diddn't get a meddal. What we stopped was the cutting of Iraqi's ears if they didn't become bathist.
Yeah.
100,000+ dead Iraqi civilians can't be tortured, that's for sure.
So, when are we going to be invading all of those African countries to stop the genocide of MILLIONS of people by those dictators?
