Why is that we hold a country like Iraq to the letter of the law, insisting that every provision of every treaty be followed flawlessly? The answer to this should be interesting since we ourselves make no effort whatsoever to honor our own treaty obligations. In fact, we go out of our way to flaunt treaty provisions, yet people like you never seem to have a problem with it.

JF, you still haven't responded to this post from me. You and other conservatives want to make so much of the fact that Iraq was in violation of international law, yet you apparently don't feel that the US should have to obey international law. Why the double-standard?The US invaded Iraq ostensibly because they were in violation of international law as dictated by the UN. Yet the US keeps violating international law in its mistreatment and torture of prisoners. Why is it so important that only other countries obey international law even as the US ignores it?
