There used to be an advert for
Domestos. The music was "
Big John". The lyrics were
"Big Dom, Big Dom,
Big BAD Dom..."
Instead of Big John. I had a friend who was as big as Big John was purported to be ('Every morning at the mine you could see him arrive, he stood six foot six'). We were play fighting and he stood up and sang an impromptu 'theme' "Big Dom!". I took to the 'ring' and, being a very small person, got pummelled immediately. My response was to squeek "Li'l Mod!". The name stuck, the l'il was dropped and Mod is what I have been called ever since (which makes it more than half of my life, so it almost as much my name as my birth name).
Calling myself Mod on forums is generally bad form, due to potential 'moderator' confusion. I often double take when people call for a mod. Anyway, variations on my name (nick nick names) started flooding in from the girlfriends that call me Moddie, to the lads that called me Modulous Prime (a homage to
optimus prime). Modulous Prime has been extended to Modulous Rodolord Primordius (due to my
love of rodents) and parodied with Sodulous Grime (if I am looking
dishevelled or filthy)
So for the most part, I go for Modulous.
