Mine, (SuperNintendo Chalmers) comes from Ralph Wiggum on the simpsons.
"Hi SuperNintendo (Superintendant) Chalmers!"
(I used to be mini-Ditka, but then the bears pissed me off so I had to change the moniker. I have a weankess for overly emotional involvement in sports)
Where did your alias come from?

I think you all can figure mine out now
Well, if you look at my avitar, I think it becomes obvious. Fly fishing baby! If ya ain't using a fly rod tipped with a fly you tied yourself...why even bother. My next project is to "make" my own bamboo rod.

Re: I think you all can figure mine out now
When my kids were young, we used to play this Dungeon and Dragons game. I was Robin of Rohan. "Rohan" is a region of Tolkein's Middle Earth. When I first bought a computer, my stepson was helping me with it since I knew nothing about it, and he set up that moniker, as a sort of joke, for other purposes, so I just kept using it.
My real first name is Robin.

Re: I think you all can figure mine out now
To be honest, mine is just a random named I happened to pick a few years ago for my AIM account. All the names I was choosing were getting rejected, so I saw this commercial for the movie Swordfish on the television, and just picked a descriptive word to combine with it.
So yeah, pretty dull and meaningless. =/

A reflection of my Agnostiscism...
and perhaps a hint that do not know enough to form a concrete opinion on the creo/evo debate.

advertising
There used to be an advert for Domestos. The music was "Big John". The lyrics were
"Big Dom, Big Dom,
Big BAD Dom..."
Instead of Big John. I had a friend who was as big as Big John was purported to be ('Every morning at the mine you could see him arrive, he stood six foot six'). We were play fighting and he stood up and sang an impromptu 'theme' "Big Dom!". I took to the 'ring' and, being a very small person, got pummelled immediately. My response was to squeek "Li'l Mod!". The name stuck, the l'il was dropped and Mod is what I have been called ever since (which makes it more than half of my life, so it almost as much my name as my birth name).
Calling myself Mod on forums is generally bad form, due to potential 'moderator' confusion. I often double take when people call for a mod. Anyway, variations on my name (nick nick names) started flooding in from the girlfriends that call me Moddie, to the lads that called me Modulous Prime (a homage to optimus prime). Modulous Prime has been extended to Modulous Rodolord Primordius (due to my love of rodents) and parodied with Sodulous Grime (if I am looking dishevelled or filthy)
So for the most part, I go for Modulous.
Now with added images! This item complies with article 42c. Your nickname stories may vary.

From my love of meta-humor.

"We had survived to turn on the History Channel
And ask our esteemed panel, Why are we alive? And here's how they replied:
You're what happens when two substances collide
And by all accounts you really should have died."

My story is kind of boring. This discussion board began life at Yahoo, and not wanting to be Percy682 I poked around for an unused word that wasn't too far off the mark and found Percipient. Once we set up shop here I returned to Percy.

Many people here know that I use to play Everquest. My character name there was just a modification of a computer-generated woodelf name. As Asgara grew up in the game she joined a guild, and being one of the only female members, she quickly became the "queen bee." This only got worse as she became one of the guild leaders. Everyone took to bowing in her presence and calling her "Asgara Queen of the Universe."
The name, and some say attitude, has stuck. There are even people in real life who call me Asgara.

Originally, the last-but-not-least of the seven Gospel writers: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, George and Ringo. Now, more of a gunslinger persona - but I'm thinking of switching to the moniker and avatar of the "Vilnius Schoolmaster".

Looking out the window, deep in thought...
...trying to decide what I'd like to be called on this grand forum I'd been lurking at for weeks.
I've been a compulsive reader since my poor sainted mother accidentally taught me to read at age 4. I'm one of those people who read cereal boxes, instruction manuals, randman's posts...anything.
When I was in grade school, my parents realized the reason my teachers complained so much about me falling asleep in class (aside from boredom) was that I stayed awake until the wee hours reading. So they took my books and reading lamp. Then they caught me reading a smuggled book under the covers by flashlight. They took my flashlight.
Finally, they caught me reading the dictionary by the streetlight that came in through my bedroom window. They surrendered.
So...out my office window I saw, in big red letters, high in the sky...

PurpleDawn
For those who haven't figured it out, Purple is my favorite color. Purple
Dawn is because I am usually on the computer at, what my daughter calls, the buttcrack of dawn in my time zone.
My initials are CAP.

To remind me
I'm rather curious about everything and it reminds me that it is better to ask questions than make flat statements (not always successfully).

Iano in two parts
Ian, because thats my..er...Christian.. name. (Scottish for John as I understand it - oh dear)
Iano because on the Northside of Dublin where I work, nigh on everybody with a name open to it gets an 'o' attached to the end of their name.
David = Davo
Mick = Micko
John = Johnno
Being the Northside (percieved by everyone Southside to be the wrong side of the tracks) virtually no one is called Nicholas

from my atrophied imagination
Michael is my given name; it is supposed to be Hebrew for "he who is like god." I wouldn't otherwise know mom was heavy into irony.
For most of my life I went by "Mike"--when I was called "Michael" it usually meant I was in trouble for something. Also, "Michael" seemed a little too formal and stilted to me when I was younger. Lately, however, I have begun to enjoy my given name.
In one fable, "Michael is described as the prince of light, leading forces of good against the darkness of evil" (from Wikipedia). Sounds pretty damn cool to me.
So there you have it.
For a short time I went by "short attention sp" in reference to a characteristic I have which inhibits my reading of most messages authored by Holmes.
Cheers.
