In college, I was eating dinner at a restaurant with some friends. I had already eaten that day, so I only ordered a side dish of mashed potatoes. They asked why I was only eating mashed potatoes. I replied that I was on a special diet suggested to me by my doctor, "Doctor Potato"
At this point, we joked for some time about how the only thing Doctor Potato ever said in response to any malady was "Eat more potato!" Soon after, I began using this as my nickname anywhere I could.
