I was almost ready to make a joke about the EvC crew growing a spine, and taking the journey to Ukraine to fight, but decided not to. Part of the reason I did not quote the actual article is that I saw at least one poster here talk about killing Russians
Well...you almost seem to want to kill white people...or at least take them out of global power. Don't you understand the issue is not about white privilege or ethnic minority power? This type of prejudice is why I think you need to be banned.

This all may be true on the ground and in a ground war. There are two ways NATO can be hurt.I still argue that the main way that the West will be crippled is economically. The other method is Cyber-attacks. Granted Russia is nearly done. I feel that this war will continue through other means. It may turn into an economic war.
We may also find ourselves confronting another COVID virus or something similar.

Why are they buying all that wonderful gold if it can't save us/them?
My guess is that the old money system will eventually fail and in order for a new system to be sound it will have to be backed by one of two things: 1) Gold and a solid commodities basket) or 2) Human commitment. (Mandatory)Think Mark Of The Beast. Or laugh, I really don't care. I can lead a horse to water but I can't make them drink.
And you know the only thing that *can* save us.

There won't be years of Putin doing anything - he's over; he miscalculated, he's lost, either quickly or slowly, he and Russia are now out of the global picture - he can no longer win.
Russia now controls all of Ukraine's seaports...or very nearly so. He may well have bluffed the main goal of capturing the Capital, Kyiv. As I have said before, he wants the wheat and he wants the ports.
Ukraine won't survive without their trade.

Though I have been accused with disconnected and irrational thinking, (largely due to diabetic blood sugar levels) I absorb a great deal of information. My critics prematurely accuse me of accepting the preaching of con men and hucksters.
Time will tell how accurate my phobias are regarding the US Dollar...but that's another topic.
I am convinced now that the primary reason for Putins land grab into Ukraine is the following:
1) Ukraine found evidence of large oil and natural gas reserves within their territory. The former president, Petro Poroshenko, was pro Russian. 2)Zelinski sided more with the West and Putin could not risk losing the warm water port and the additional Natural Gas reserves (and oil).

What warm water port would Russia lose? They needed to seize control of the Black Sea. If Mariupol was seized, Russia would also end up with full control of more than 80% of Ukraine's Black Sea coastline - cutting off its maritime trade and further isolating it from the world.
What gas and or oil would Russia lose?
Again, learn to read. Russia is trying not to lose anything. It is Ukraine that had control of newly discovered (2012) Gas deposits under the sea near their coast. Putin did not want Ukraine (especially a NATO Ukraine) to remain in control of them.

As a general rule, it's cheaper to trade than to fight a war. Isn't Putin likely to lose more oil/gas sales due to sanctions than he could possibly gain from Ukraine?

I was thinking a couple of generations beyond that, say a hundred years.
Just don't get idealistic and imagine a one-world-government. It won't work if the *U.S.* doesn't have a primary say and veto power within it.
Granted we need to keep our own authoritarians in check.

And yet you and most everyone else here does not understand how money works. You correctly said that the Bill will get paid. The bill will get paid when the rest of the world loses the faith in US Treasuries. The Dollar will be replaced as the currency of global trust. We are not sure yet what will replace it, but the investments of many people will absorb the loss.
When Nixon decoupled the dollar from Gold in 1970, he said he was "defending the dollar against the speculators.
Hard asset commodities are like kryptonite to unbacked fiat currencies...which is now nearly worldwide. Do you honestly think that money is given value merely by a common agreement? If so, what is the asset backing the common agreement??
