(Granny Magda's Ithika)
Granny Magda runs a campaign that I've been enjoying for .... gosh, about two years now. I'm a Warpy Psionicist My mutation is a metal skull cap that protects my otherwise exposed brain, although I can gain 20% psp's by removing the cap - leaving me open to potential injury and possible cerebral-consumption if that Hannibal Lecter guy comes around and decides he feels a bit peckish.
Some recent fun incidents...
> A guard "assassinated" by being shoved off a rampart into a raging cloudkill below. Oops!
> The death of a party member as a result of party negligence... Granny could have corralled us into taking a different course of action than the one we chose (in order to save this party member), but opted not to. This left me with a real sense of free will in the campaign, albeit that poor Sarwan had to pay for this sense of freedom with his life hehehe)
> A party member was forced to jump into the town fountain because they teleported to town whilst they had a breathe water spell active on them (thus making them unable to breathe air).
My favourite thing about Granny's mastering style is his ability to address situations on the fly and come up with reasonable, logical resolutions, most times after listening to and taking into consideration the suggestions of his players (I say "most" because it's not a democracy is it... the players don't get a say in some things).
The coolest thing in this campaign (and kudos to Granny for this) is the high level of detail built into it. Granny (over the years) has developed enough original source material for this campaign to give it a fully fleshed-out, lived-in feel.
Now if he'd just spend less time on these forums and more time doing game prep... but alas, there are wayward intellects here that need that gentle nudge (or in some cases a full-on tackle) to get back to reality.
I'm experiencing an intellectual revival as of late Granny, so I'll be joining you here in this noble endeavour.
Seeya soon! (signed Aleph)
(is this post worth 100 extra xp?)

Shards of Dalaya

I'm addicted to Evercrack again on a heavily modded server called Shards of Dalaya.
If you played Everquest back in the 90's, it's a really fun, nostalgic feel returning to that world. The nice thing about Shards of Dalaya is the admin/dev attention that it gets. There are loads of voluntary subscribers who pay from $3 to $20 a month to support the server, though most folks are playing for free and at no disadvantage to the paying subscribers (they just get nifty toys of no substantial benefit).
Like all these sorts of games, the internet breeds douchbaggery, but if you can shrug that sort of behaviour off, it can be a fun environment.
But I'm not encouraging anyone to play lol... that would make me like a drug dealer.
Edited by Briterican, : clarified paying subscribers as opposed to most free-players
