Keys for RIFT beta freely available.
**Appologies to the admins, guess I hit new reply instead of general reply last time.**
Gamers looking for a change of pace, RIFT is a new MMO being released March 1. In the meantime it is in beta witht he next beta sessions starting up January 25th.
Beta keys (allowing up to 25 people per key are being posted on their forums).
Register for beta here:
StackPath
Look for keys here:
http://forums.riftgame.com/forumdisplay.php?3-General-Dis...
Remember some of the keys have been used up so you might have to try a few to find one which works.
If you get really stuck send me a message and I'll see if I can find you a good key.
if you see this message after this beta you might still try to create an account since they'll likely have at least one more beta test.

RIFT servers
Given how many keys they're giving out I would expect them to add more servers, but for those who like to think ahead.
Belmont PvE
Byriel PvE
Wolfsbane PvE
Briarcliff PvP
Seastone PvP
Lotham PvP
Sunrest PvP-RP
Faeblight PvE-RP
German Local Server
French Local Server
Also, oddly enough, this games factions seem to be technologists vs the faithful.

Re: RIFT
The login server is on meltdown. But this mostly means you may have to try to login many times.
People can check to see if servers are up at:
riftstatus.com Is for Sale
and
riftstatus.com Is for Sale
As a side note on the character trees. Game seems MORE flexible than most since you can not only pick from the three souls out of 9, but you can change what souls you use later.

Hopefully, Trion can work out a few of the kinkshopefully they view them as kinks. One thing I’ve noticed is that once you’re in a raid it becomes less dynamic. I’ve shown up to areas where clearly not everyone at that location is in the same raid. I mean where there’s only say 10 people at that spot and for some reason I’m in a public group of two or three.

Champions Online is now F2P
Champions Online is now F2P (free to play).
Champions online is a superhero MMO. F2P in this case means you have limited ability to play the game, can only go up to a certain level, etc.

Re: Keys for RIFT beta freely available.
Interesting point. I think this will come down to if they allow outside addon's. Hopefully, they'll not make things wide open. I think the WoW approach dumbs down games. There certainly shouldn't be any addons that automatically debuff raids.
But yeah, maybe when you set up a role you can pick two icons for roles to display in group/raids.

Re: Keys for RIFT beta freely available.
I'm a bit old school. I consider the healbot/decurse addons pretty auto. But as I've never used them I certainly may be wrong.

It's possible that those people simply didn't join the "public group", though. Nothing Trion can do about that.
I think the problem is more basic and has to do with how raids are formed and existing raid groups splinter and yet are maintained. With all the running around you can be in a raid group where the raid splits up in different locations. So you can wind up with split raids fighting all over. What I think should happen is that if your at a location where there's a public group and you join group and the player isn't at that location then you bump the person farthest from the rift from the raid. This would be for public groups only.

Re: Keys for RIFT beta freely available.
My understanding is in WoW you are often required to use them to be competitive and that later many groups/guilds will insist you use them. Addon’s will tell you by flashing on your screen what ability your opponent has used, no? Some addons even tell you what is going on in Boss fights and what attacks the Boss it going to use next.
I dislike the addon(s) which show you exactly how much cast time is left on a spell as you’re casting it. Used to be people had to develop more a sense of such things. I dislike that they can tell you when and effect fades (as a reminder to reapply), that they tell you when anyone in the party gets agro (you used to have to watch the screen).
From google: Quest Helper is by far the most awesome addon ever. It shows you exactly where to go to complete your quest. No more searching thottbott, and asking for help. You'll lspend more time turning in quests, and less time wondering what to do.
I see why people like them, just think they make games a bit too easymode.
