Re: CK's post hidden?
It is hidden to stave off those who wish to put their two cents worth in concerning the situation.
It serves no purpose in remaining visible since Rob didn't heed it anyway.
Kudos to CK for trying.

New rules?
Are members free to make personal insults to other members without fear of a suspension now?
Could an admin clarify the situation for me because I remember when directly insulting another member resulted in a suspension, have the rules changed?
Thanks.
Brian.

Petty or not?
It is no secret that Jar and Faith are anything but bosom buddies. Seems to me that a letter of the law is invoked with some glee here (given the general tone of the posts in question)
Potm isn't really the forum for it - but I thought it worthy of consideration nonetheless

Re: New rules?
No new rules.
Frankly the thread was at the Witching Hour anyway and the infraction pretty minor so I thought the best course was to simply point out that it was across the line and go ahead and close the thread.
I don't see any reason for anything more than was done.

    Re: New rules?
So, when a thread is approaching the witching hour it's a free for all?
Many people have been suspended for similar or even less, but it's your call, I just find it a bit strange that's all.
Then again, it must be difficult to suspend an admin I suppose.
Good to see Percy's rehab clinic is going well.
    Thanks for the clarification.
    Brian.

    Proposed New Topic on Fossils
Faith has proposed a new topic on fossils. She wants it put in something other than a Science forum so that a Flood explanation for the fossil record can be explored. I suggest this be allowed because I for one would like to see a YEC explanation for the order of fossils found in the geological column as well as the YEC explanation of how fossil dino footprints were formed during a flood.

Oh Johnny Boy...the pipes, the pipes are calling
Pretty heavy stuff going on down at Showcase with John A Davison. Whatever about the rebuttals it seems that he IS the only hand-on-heart published scientist around here (on the matter in question)
My own verdict: even though I might not at all agree on his conclusions about God (John seems ever so limited in scope on the matter) he does stand head and shoulders above all here gathered in terms of out and out...I hesitate to say... but not for long... balls
And him 78 years old. Shame on us all.
To let things limp along to the 300 limit and let it all quietly slip away would (though few might ever know it) speak volumes

    Showcase access?
How is access to the Showcase forum handled?
(I wouldn't mind replying to some of JAD's comments in the PEH thread.)
    Thanks.

That people struggle to converse with someone so abusive? Even christians like Rantman and Ray?

Has he published on the subject? I checked out his CV once and while he published stuff upto the late 1980s - I don't remember seeing anything related to the topic under discussion in the showcase? I'm happy to be corrected.

    Re: Showcase access?
With the post count as it is PK it may be a case of "too little too late" - if Johns assertion that he is not allowed general privileges is accurate.

I mean published scientist at all. Maybe you know who the people are behind the monikers. I don't. For all we know we could be a load of Walmart shelf stackers chatting amongst ourselves (not that there is anything in the least denigrating to be said about Walmart shelf stackers)
{AbE} and its not like a little bit of kerfuffle would put off the average poster here. Nay. I sense fear

    Re: Showcase access?
There is no problem starting a new showcase thread if John is willing. Perhaps he would be more willing if he was actively engaged.
    Sincerely,
    a published scientist

Re: Oh Johnny Boy...the pipes, the pipes are calling
Hum - I wouldn't rely on being published as being that much of a guide - it's a bit more complex than that. First of all even the peer-reviewed journals have a pecking order (which your academic insituation will take in account when they assess your publication record and so will places when you apply for a job). So first of all you have to understand which journals are which. The second important element is the amounts of cititations your papers get - if nobody cites you - well generally there is a reason for that.
(Not commenting on JAD in particular but the process in general).
As for fear - you have to remember that JAD has been knocking around and been banned from virtually every significant evolution-type forum going and here a number of times. I can think of a number of people still here who have taken him on a number of times - I suspect boredom is a more significant factor. It's not an area I have a particular interest in, but he does not seem to saying any different from the last time he was here and the time before that.
