Built in logic
What on earth are you guys talking about anyway? You complicate something that is simple. Of COURSE logic is natural to humanity. Of COURSE we all think logically. Maybe do a bad job of it frequently (The Fall, according to me of course), but there's no doubt that logic is built into us. Language doesn't just force itself on us, it grew out of human experience, and that's why it contains logical forms, not the other way around.

Re: OK, if you think logic is so natural
all but 3
But right or wrong, this wouldn't prove whether logic is natural or not, as I said that we are not always good at it, and some of us are better at it than others. I meant what robinrohan just said in his post, logic is simply the process of thinking. Formal logic is the refinement of this process.

Totally off topic
But brief.
You need an avatar. I gather from comments you've made in the past that you hate avatars the way you hate smilies, but avatars help a person identify whose post is coming up without having to squint. It's a favor to the rest of us in other words and I'm sure you'd find that a reason worth pondering.
So since your name is from Tolkien's Rohan as you revealed here not too long ago, you could go to Google Images and put in Rohan and see if there's anything there you'd be able to use as your avatar.
Is Robin of Rohan a prince or a knight or what? You could use those terms in Google Images to narrow it down.
Just a thought.
Have a good day.

Re: Totally off topic
I think if you're going to put up a portrait it should be an honest portrait of what you look like now.
But I think a map of Rohan could be good. Go look at Google images.

Re: Built in logic
Thanks. That's a good illustration of how natural logic works. I have to go look up "undistributed middle" but that's OK.

Re: Totally off topic
I prefer dishonest portraits. Anyway, that guy looks like a nihilist, so it fits me to a tee.
Decadent sort. Is that what a nihilist looks like?
What would it take to bring it up to date? I considered messing with it in the Paint program to add some wrinkles and loose flesh, but you were spared the experiment because I have an optical mouse which useless for drawing (or for anything whatever for that matter).
But back on topic.
You and I seem to use the concept of logic in a different sense than others here, and they are awfully dogmatic about their sense of it.

Re: Living fallaciously
You seem to be unnecessarily dogmatic about the term logic, which only makes conversation with you impossible. We aren't all scientists and the term has meaning outside that context. The bolded sentences for instance are valid uses of the term.
log·ic (loj'ik)
noun
(art) of reasoning, logic feminine of logikos, of reasoning, from logos, reason.
1. The study of the principles of reasoning, especially of the structure of propositions as distinguished from their content and of method and validity in deductive reasoning.
2.
a. A system of reasoning: Aristotle's logic.
b. A mode of reasoning: By that logic, we should sell the company tomorrow.
c. The formal, guiding principles of a discipline, school, or science.
3. Valid reasoning: Your paper lacks the logic to prove your thesis.
4. The relationship between elements and between an element and the whole in a set of objects, individuals, principles, or events: There's a certain logic to the motion of rush-hour traffic.
5. Computer Science
a. The nonarithmetic operations performed by a computer, such as sorting, comparing, and matching, that involve yes-no decisions.
b. Computer circuitry.
c. Graphic representation of computer circuitry.

Re: OK, if you think logic is so natural
The DICTIONARY defines logic as thinking, for heaven's sake, defines it as REASONING. What's with you guys with your insistence on your specialized definition? Obviously you just aren't interested in discussion.
I have no other answer to the puzzle. If I want to prove whether an even number is always backed by a primary color I'm going to have to check the even number, the primary color and the nonprimary color.

Re: OK, if you think logic is so natural
Reasoning is the same as thinking, Crash.
What a bunch of BS you evos are pulling today, on this thread and on that pathetic excuse for a conversation about the flood I'm sorry I gave a second thought to.
I think there's something basically fundamentally wrong with the scientific mentality. I've been coming to that conclusion for some time now. Something lacking in the reasoning department, and in the plain humanity department for sure.

Re: OK, if you think logic is so natural
Can a card with a secondary color show a even number?
Of course not. That would prove the proposition false. The proposition is even = primary.
I'm probably wrong though as I've been told my solution to the puzzle was wrong.

Re: OK, if you think logic is so natural
I have no interest in proving anything. That's why I'm sorry I bothered to answer your ridiculous challenge. I gave my thoughts and that's all I care to do. Your idiotic idea that cladistics is anything other than a self-validating begging of the question tells me all I need to know about "science."
