So riverrat is against abortion and apparently arguing against sex for pleasure, and you are against smoking and drinking, even to the point where society is supposed to imprison everyone who disagrees and acts upon such disagreement.
And everyone knows how well making such things illegal has worked in the past.
Prohibition in the twenties gave the US Al Capone and friends (and arguably gave organised crime such an inroad into society that it has subsequently proved impossible to remove).
The experience of countries around the world that used to criminalise abortion was that it just led to the terrible problems of back street abortionists and all the horrors that entails.
I guess for some people the triumph of dogma over experience is what is important
