I suspect Robin put you up to it.

Ironically, this comes at a time when we are discussing in another thread whether or not to "terminate" Faith.

For many of us, our passing would hardly be noticed at EvC. "He doesn't post much anymore," would be our epitaph. Somebody else would come along to take our place.

But Robin can never be replaced (and Faith can never be replaced).

Robin will be missed here. I think it would be appropriate to post his signature here, for the consideration of all. It is in rememberance of his philosphy, and it is appropriate in many respects.

quote:

"Your friends, if they can, may bury you with some distinction, and set up a monument, to let posterity see that your dust lies under such a stone; and when that is done, all is done. Your place is filled up by another, the world is just in the same state it was, you are blotted out of its sight, and as much forgotten by the world as if you had never belonged to it."--William Law

I personally feel that although a person might be forgotten, the way they affected others will in turn, pass on good deeds, to yet another generation. Although his memory might pass, lessons and examples he provided will be passed down from those he knew in person, to yet a new generation.

Makes me sad. I liked his rabble-rousing ways. Thanks for letting us know.

Although I don't recall ever having personally bantered with him on this forum, I will miss him. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends.

I propose that we post some of our favorite posts of his or perhaps just posts that we feel best represent him and his philosophy.

Faith, or anyone, do you know his real name? I would like to know.

I propose that this thread be made a fitting memorial for robinrohan, and that it be moved to a new forum titled In Memoriam with the hope that it be little used. For now we can continue posting our fondest rememberances, or perhaps favorite excerpts from his posts. Here's his message index.

Some apparently knew him in the real world. Do people feel it would be inappropriate or an invasion of privacy if we asked for more information about the real person?

R.I.P.
Robin was a delightful character! He stimulated many a conversation and his EvC Forum play was a masterful look into his interpretations of our characters. Robin was searching for peace yet never expecting to find it. I believe that he has now found it.

We all die. Doubtlessly, some of will die before we think it our time. I am proud to have interacted with Robin online, and I pray he found his answers to be the dreams beyond his grasp.

In one of his final posts, Robin wrote the words to his favorite song.

RobinRohan writes:

I'll be seeing you
In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day through.
In that small cafe,
The park across the way,
The children's carousel,
The chestnut trees, the wishing well.

I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day,
In everything that's bright and gay,
I'll always think of you that way.

I'll see you in the morning sun,
And when the night is through,
I'll be looking at the moon,
But I'll be seeing you.

World War II song. The singer is mourning a fallen soldier. Very tragic. She'll be seeing him in the sense that he will always live in her memory. He's gone--forever. The line "in all the old familiar places" is especially fine. It's all the places they used to go.

EvC is a loosely defined online family. I'll miss Robin.

Edited by Phat, : added song.

I can understand that, nwr. I thought a bit about that before asking the question, but I just felt a need to know. I can settle for remembering him as robinrohan, tho. Thank you.

Faith,

Tragic news, sad to hear it. How old was he?

Considerations To Ponder
Thanks Faith. I pray for the family and friends. This reminds us all, young and old that at the most life is like a vapor, here now and soon gone as the Bible says. it behooves Biblicalists to ever search for Biblical truth as God intended and for non-Biblicalists to consider all aspects of it's merits before rejecting it's message of hope/assurance regarding the resurrection of the dead.

I have no doubt that Robin was a wonderful teacher. I'm sure that all of his students are in mourning as well as his family. My prayers go out to all of them.

He will have left his mark.

Faith and Robin's holy/unholy alliance...

Robin's guarentee of sending any of his threads into the red on the Activity Meter within a matter of minutes...

Robin and Jar's constant sparring over definitions of Christianity...

Here's to you, Robin thanks for making us laugh, groan, and think. You'll be missed.
