All species are transitional.

I only had one thread of exchanges with Robin, but that was enough for his thoughts, ideals and views to have an impact on me, small or large.

I am sad to hear of his passing and wish the best for his family and friends.

It is odd to hear of a posters passing, at least for me. I don't think of age or health conditions when I correspond with someone on here, but something like this brings the words they typed and connects it to a person that sometimes I forget there is behind the digital name.

This is really weird for me. Definately a new experience. I thought that I felt like I knew the guy. After looking at his memorial, in which he looks nothing like I imagined, I realized how much he really was. I wish I would have known more about him while we were conversing instead of being wrong in my presumptions. I was thinking of adding a tribute but I don't know.

Faith, maybe you could add a tribute on behalf of all of us a EvC or somehthing. Or should I just go ahead and do my own?

I think whoever would like to write one should.

But do we really want to have a whole bunch of tributes from people that his family never heard of?

I haven't had time to think about it, I have to admit. Maybe hold off on it until later. Could collect things people want to say and maybe I or someone else could put them together in one message if that's best.

I recall Robin saying that he wouldn't consider posting what he revealed here under his real name - that these views were ones which he held as private in real world. I couldn't begin to find the post though.

If so, then introducing all who he knows to here might be breaking into that privacy. If they came here they would find out things about him that he seemed not willing for them to know when he was alive.

I'd say let it lie. Let his views go to the grave with him except for those he chose to share them with.

Aw, damn... that's a shame.

Robin annoyed the hell out of me. But I enjoy that. He'll be missed.

Well, that's certainly something to think about, Ian. I was reluctant at first even to post the memorial site. So you're saying just don't mention the forum in a tribute or anything like that? But as Parasomnium pointed out, Robin did show EvC to his wife. I guess I'm not sure what to do.

I don't think Robin's family is going to be very shocked by the thoughts he expressed here on EvC. If they are going to seek them out in the first place, that is. I think they have something else on their mind now.

But since they put up a memorial site on the internet, don't you think they would expect some unknown contributions to appear? They know he's been active on the internet, after all.

What you say about people having topics they can't discuss in daily life rings very true to me.

I'm inclined to post something there and sign it as Parasomnium, but I'll wait to see what others here have to say about it.

You make sense. I agree. I think I would use my EvC nom de plume there too if I post a tribute.

Faith et al, including friends and family of Robin,

The side that Robin showed here is also part of the real Robin.

For tribute you could post a link to this thread, so that those who are interested can pursue the Robin that "lived" on this board,

and then sign it "Faith, internet friend" - and they will understand that this is but another dimension to the real Robin, evidence that he reaches out to others beyond his physical circle of friends and family.

I would not feel shamed to have friends and family read my posts here, and I don't think you would either, as that smacks of hypocrisy in one "world" or the other.

That does not strike me as Robins approach to life and learning. He struck me as a person very honest with himself. He presented himself here warts and all.

He was a keen observer of people.

I also noticed that one of the pictures in the gallery was the sketch that he posted and another was him with it in a frame.
