What you can do is fight the GOOD fight. Vote for only those willing to acknowledge the problems and also to address the problems. Do the little things you can do to make others lives better.
Run the race. Keep on keeping on. Speak out against the folk like the current Republican Party and anyone who claims that Jesus is gonna step in and fix the mess. Learn the real facts that are today's reality, the mistakes and errors the US is making and made in the past and find representatives that will reverse those dumb decisions.

Phat writes: This is the group that sanders claims should all get free health care and free education. This is all well and good EXCEPT that in order to fund such social programs, pay higher taxes, and pay off any loans that we the people have had, the 3rd quadrant gets hit so hard that they drop down to the 4th quadrant. Look at what Bernie Sanders has actually said a written rather than what the Medicine Men are selling. Show evidence that that is what Sanders advocates or even if that is what would happen. Look at EVERY other modern nation Phat. Compare the quality of life. Compare the life expectancy. Compare the health care costs. Compare the wealth disparity. Compare the crime rates. The reality Phat is others seem able to provide for all, to still have richer and poorer and to make everything better for their middle class. We choose not to follow their example and so we choose to make the middle class suffer. We do not have to choose that yet we do.

Phat writes: Why do the populists use propaganda to call them out as fake, when in reality these facts would help the working class rather than burden it? Why haven't you already checked the facts; they are readily available? The answer really is that simple Phat. It's easier to believe the Medicine Men and know that health and wealth are all coming to you as long as you join the club. Being well informed is work. Swallowing propaganda is easy.

Phat writes: But not every club has propaganda, do they? What of your club---The Episcopal Church? Do they have a medicine man? Do they sell the idea that the club is a necessity? Actually "No!" Phat. The Episcopal church does not say it is a necessity or the right path or the TRUE religion or that it has the answers. In fact it is very active in the Ecumenical movement. Priest of other faiths are accepted as Episcopal priests and anyone baptized is welcome to take communion and in the National Cathedral (an Episcopal Church) there are regular learning sessions when those of other faiths are invited in to present their belief systems. The school I went to is Episcopalian but open to anyone regardless or their beliefs or non-beliefs.

Faith writes: We CAN'T do good works, GDR, it isn't in us, we're fallen. Yes, it seems that you can't do good works. Thankfully the rest of us can and do!

Faith writes: Do you know the scripture that says "All our righteousnesses (good deeds) are as filthy rags?" Yup. Yet another example of the conmen pulling pieces parts out of context to market their scam and rewriting the Bible to support their fantasies. Yet Jesus says that we are charged to do good deeds, not for righteousness but because they are the right thing to do. Paul says we are to fight the GOD fight; run the race. You and the other folk that market the snake oil called Salvation and pervert the teachings of Jesus.

Faith writes: How about "There is no one righteous, no not one." Yet more irrelevancies. No one is talking about righteousness rather what we are charged to do.

Faith writes: Yes we are to do good deeds, but fallen people can't do good deeds, or to be precise, good deeds that God regards as good deeds, you have to be regenerated and if your focus is all on good deeds as is the case with some here there is no sign of regeneration involved, especially with those who denigrate the whole idea of salvation. Maybe YOU can't do good deeds but fortunately the rest of us can! The whole concept of some Fall is yet another snake oil being sold by the conmen and medicine men from the back step while the horses are still hitched for the get away once the rubes have been fleeced.

Tangle writes: Where I do agree with you is that Christianity as a whole would be a far better thing if they all held your nice liberal Anglican views and Phat would be a lot happier as an Anglican than he is now. Remember that Anglicanism is not monolithic. Yes, we do have our decennial Lambeth conference that tries to build some kind of consensus position statement but in general almost all decisions on liberality or conservative positions are left up to the individual dioceses and parishes. About the only uniform position in the Anglican Communion is that if I disagree with your position I will not tell you to change it with very few exceptions. Edited by jar, : fix sub-title

Phat writes: It imparts no special favor or blessing to anyone who calls themselves Christian. It promises nothing after death in this life. It may well earn its members nothing more than merit badges of their own making. What does Jesus say in Matthew 25 or in Luke 4? In both Jesus says it is NOT the ones who claim to be followers but rather all peoples even outside the Faith. Neither "Jews" (and remember Jesus was not a Christian) or those who claimed to follow him got special treatment including life after death.

Phat writes: Heaven is not a democracy. Otherwise, we would be forced to let satan hang out there also. Yet Jesus says it is those who claim to be followers who will not be allowed in.

GDR writes: Simply that there is no external intelligence responsible for our existence, or put the other way around, that we are simply the result of a chance combination of particles and processes. Again, how is that relevant to anything? It certainly has no relevance related to morality or service or love or deeds or results or responsibility or duty or ...
