Hi wee man good to have you back.
You have posted an argument with a logical conclusion. However, it is an invalid arguement because your premises are faulty. For example, you say that things that are of great value can be taken away, but so can things that are of NO, or very little value, so an equally logical argument could be that human life has no value. Also, you would have people disagreeing with you over the definition of 'value'. To some people their memories of past events are valuable, to others material goods are valuable, so there could be a problem there. So, although your argument is a logical conclusion based on the premises, the premises are not sound. Brian.

Is there then a way for establishing an argument for the value for human life in a truth preserving fashion? Short answer is 'no'. Problem being is over subjectiveness of the researcher. You would need an objective source that verifies that human life is valuable. Of course no one is completely objective, but if you at least try it and look at how many humans treat other humans then you would have to conclude that human life isnt really all that valuable. Even looking at Israel today. Murdering over 300 innocent civilians because a terrorist group has kidnapped 2 soldiers is an appalling disregard for human life. Look at other countries, Rwanda, or China, history is littered with examples. Brian.

My basis for this? The categorical imperative one and two, Christ's famous words of love one another. Well, Christ wasn't anywhere near being the first person to say those words, Buddha certainly said this 600 years or so before Jesus. But didn't Christ tell George Bush to go into Iraq? Complete altruism is an ideology, it is beyond most people. Brian. PS, have you been listening to the blues again?

I just wondered why you attributed then to someone with whom the words did not originate.

Anyway, back on topic. Why do you think human life is valuable? Brian.

Human life is valuable to me as a it is of no value to another. What does this mean? Are you saying human life is more valuable to you than it is to any other person, or no other person bar you values human life?
I believe in Rousseau's natural rights. Jesus doesn't.
When one is killed unvoluntarilly it denies them their natural rights. When are people killed voluntarily? You must really hate God then Messenjah. How many were killed unvoluntarily at His cull of the Egyptian children? Brian. Edited by Brian, : format

I'm interested in see how you are going to support your claim that Jesus Christ doesn't support natural rights. Exodus 12:12 "On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn”both men and animals”and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD. The first born child of every man living in Egypt was struck down by Jesus, and I don't think those little babies volunteered. What do you think?
I find that statement untrue. You will come to understand that everything I say is true. I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. Brian.

So, who was it then?
My Bible says in Exodus 12:12 that it is God who is speaking, am I correct? Brian.

It is quite clear that it is God who is speaking in this passage.
Whenever you see LORD in capitals in the Old Testament, that is where the name Yahweh should be. Now, you are a messenger of Jah, so who is speaking in this passage? The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, "This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the people of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast. Do not eat the meat raw or cooked in water, but roast it over the fire”head, legs and inner parts. Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it. This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the LORD's Passover. "On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn”both men and animals”and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD. The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt. Brian.

Of course, subjectively speaking, our lives are very valuable What about the lives of little Wun Hung Lo and his sister in a small mountian village in China, are their lives valuable? Brian.

But it is God speaking isn't it, I mean that is what the text says.
So, back to your logic and we have: God kills innocent children in EgyptJesus is God Therefore Jesus killed innocent children in Egypt. Let's try another one. Who is speaking here: "Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass." Slay women, infants, and even little suckling babies, which monster ordered this atrocity? Brian.
